Installing an OpenStack Provider using the OpenStack Provider installer

This topic describes how to install the OpenStack Provider through the OpenStack installer. The following information is provided:

Before you begin

Before you install the OpenStack Provider, ensure that you have completed the tasks listed in Prerequisites for installing the OpenStack Provider and that you have the OpenStack Provider installer files (setup.cmd or setup.sh) stored on your local computer.

To install the OpenStack Provider

  1. At the command prompt, run the setup command to start the installation:
    • (Microsoft Windows, logged on as Administrator) setup.cmd
    • (Linux, logged on as root) setup.sh

  2. On the Welcome page, shown in the following figure, click Next.

  3. Review the license agreement, select I agree to the terms of the license agreement, and then click Next.
  4. Review the OpenStack Provider Installer Prerequisites panel to ensure that the installation requirements are met; click  I have read the prerequisites, and then click Next.
  5. Select the type of installation; choose Install or Upgrade and then select if the installation or upgrade includes one or two AR System servers.
  6. In the Connection inputs for BMC AR System Server panel, enter the BMC AR System server name or enterprise AR System server name for one of the following installation types, and click Next

    • For a new installation on BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.x.00 or an upgrade from an earlier installation of BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management having one AR System server, enter the BMC AR System server name.

    • For a new installation on BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.x.00 or an upgrade from an earlier installation of BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management having two AR System servers, enter the enterprise AR System server name.

  7. In the Connection inputs for BMC AR System Server panel, enter the BMC AR System server or enterprise AR System server user credentials and port number for one of the following installation types, and click Next.

    • For a new installation on BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.x.00 or an upgrade from an earlier installation of BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management having one AR System server, enter the BMC AR System server  user credentials and port number.
    • For a new installation on BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.x.00 or an upgrade from an earlier installation of BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management having two AR System servers, enter the enterprise AR System server user credentials and port number.

      Note

      Depending on your environment configurations, the port number of BMC AR System server is retrieved by the OpenStack Provider installer. You must verify the port number and ensure that it is entered correctly here.

      Ensure that the BMC AR System user specified here has BMC AR Administrator privileges.


  8. In the Connection inputs for Cloud Platform Manager panel, specify the following required details, and click Next:

    • Host name — Name of the server where the Cloud Platform Manager is installed
    • User name — User name to log on to the Cloud Platform Manager
    • Password — Password to authenticate the user name
    • Directory location — Directory where the Cloud Platform Manager server is installed
  9. On the Installation Preview page, click Next.

  10. Read the warning about stopping the BMC_CSM service of the Cloud Platform Manager, and click Next.
  11. On the Installation Summary page, click View Log to review any messages.
  12. To exit the installer, click Done.

To verify the installation

In the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management – Administration Console, click the vertical Workspaces menu on the left side of the window and select Providers.
The OpenStack Provider appears in the Provider Type list:
