Viewing the Statement of Capacity report

If you use a third-party solution for building and managing cloud infrastructure, such as VMware vCloud Suite or Amazon Web Services, you can integrate that infrastructure as a provider type in BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management.

BMC Software might ask you to generate the Statement of Capacity report for a specific time period for licensing calculations. The Statement of Capacity report displays:

  • The daily maximum number of managed servers for the specified reporting period
  • The average daily maximum number of managed servers for the specified reporting period

Managed servers refers to number of active servers that were provisioned by BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management.

To view the report

  1. Click the vertical Workspaces menu on the left side of the window and select Configuration.
  2. Under the Statement of Capacity heading, click View Report.
  3. When the dialog box is displayed, enter the start and end dates for the report, using the form mm/dd/yyyy.
    If you enter the date in the wrong format, the following generic message is displayed:
    An error occurred, please see your administrator (ARERR 9426)
    Use the correct date format and try again.
  4. Click the OK button on the dialog box.
    The Statement of Capacity report is displayed in a new browser window.

     
    Page 1 of the report displays:
    • Summary section:
      • Company — The name of the provider company specified in the Configuration workspace, as described in Configuration workspace overview.
      • Report Period Start — The start date that you specified for the report.
      • Report Period End — The end date that you specified for the report.
    • Managed Server Endpoints for Measured Period section
      • Average Daily Maximum — The average, during the report period, of each day's highest number of active servers that were provisioned by BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management.
      • Peak Capacity — The highest number of active servers that were provisioned by BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management during the report period.
    • report graph — Displays a graph of the report data.
  5. Click the next page button on the right side of the report heading to go the next page of the report.

     
    Pages 2 through n display the Managed Assets - Server Endpoints report with the following information for each month in the specified reporting period:
    • month — Displays the month for the data that is displayed.
      • Monthly Average — Displays the average number of active provisioned servers for the month.
      • Monthly Maximum — Displays the highest number of active provisioned servers during the month.
    • Daily Values table — Displays the number of active provisioned servers for each day of the month.

To navigate the report page

  • Click the Toggle table of contents button to display a list links to daily reports during the specified time period.
  • Click the Export report button to export the report to any of the following formats: Excel, PostScript, PDF, Word, or PowerPoint.
  • Click the Print report button to print the report.
