Integrating BMC Server Automation and other brownfield BMC products

You can integrate the following brownfield BMC products to the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management solution:

These BMC products are not built upon the BMC Remedy AR System platform and, therefore, must be integrated

The following procedures explain how to integrate the existing brownfield BMC products to the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management solution:

Before you begin

To integrate one or more of the BMC products listed in this topic, you must first prepare them, as follows:

  1. If any of the listed standalone BMC products are available in your environment, make sure that they meet the supported version requirements.

    Note

If the brownfield BMC products in your environment do not meet the minimum version requirements for BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.x, use their standalone installers to upgrade them to their correct expected version before you integrate them with the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management installer.

  2. Make sure that the host on which the products are installed meets the prerequisites.
  3. Depending on the BMC product that you want to integrate from the following table, perform the preparatory steps:

    BMC product name

    Steps to perform

    BMC Server Automation

    BMC Atrium Orchestrator

    • Install the BMC Server Automation Console on the same host on which you installed the BMC Atrium Orchestrator – Configuration Distribution Peer.
    • Make sure that you install the remaining products in the order specified in Installation order and product dependencies.

    • For the BMC Atrium Orchestrator Configuration Distribution Peer, when using the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management installer for a brownfield integration, you must install the Access Manager and Access Manager Repository in the same Installation directory. The integration fails if they are installed in separate directories.

    • Perform the post-installation configuration steps to manually enable the required adapters for BMC Atrium Orchestrator.

    BMC Network Automation

Perform the post-installation configuration steps for BMC Network Automation by using BMC Network Automation console.

To integrate brownfield BMC Server Automation into BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management

To integrate an existing brownfield BMC Server Automation environment into BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management, perform the following steps:

  1. Launch the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management installer.
  2. In the Select Installation Type panel, select Install and then click Next.
  3. In the Select Deployment Type panel, select Integrate with an Existing Deployment, and then click Next

  4. Review the integration disclaimer, agree to its terms, and then click Next

  5. In the BMC Installation Registry panel, specify if you have an existing backup registry,  and then click Next
This example did not use a backup registry.

  6. Select the Deployment Template (for example, Small Deployment),  and then click Next
You cannot choose Compact Deployment to integrate BMC Server Automation because it runs on a single host.

  7. In the Deployment Tier Selection panel, select Control Tier (where you can select BMC Server Automation) and then click Next
  8. Select BMC Server Automation – App Server & Console, enter the host name where BMC Server Automation is installed, and then click Next

  9. Review the integration summary, and then click Next

  10. When the BMC Server Automation integration is finished, click Modify Existing Deployment to complete the pending BMC Server Automation post-installation steps or to add new products, and then click Next.

  11. Continue with other integrations, installations, or upgrades.
For example, to upgrade your environment, you must integrate BMC AR System Server - Cloud Portal and Database - Primary to continue.

To integrate brownfield BMC products into BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management

  1. If you have any of the following products installed in your environment, integrate them by using the Integrate with an Existing Deployment option in the installer.

    Tip

For new installations of the following BMC products, choose the Modify Existing Deployment option in the installer.

  2. For detailed information about installing these products, see Installing BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management.

BMC Server Automation results after you finish the brownfield integration

After you run the BMC Server Automation Post-Install Configuration in the installer, the following changes will be made to your Application Server:

  • Three new Application Server Instances (1 Config Deployment and 2 Job Deployments) are added to the Application Server.

If you do not need these Application Server deployments, you can stop them.
  • Against the Configuration Server, the Web Services are enabled.
  • Installer creates BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management-specific objects under the Depot folder:
