Installing BMC Compact Deployment for HA

This topic describes how to install the BMC Compact Deployment (single-VM option) for HA.

Before you begin

Before you start installation, meet the following prerequisites to create a single VM HA environments:

  • You need two RHEL or Windows hosts along with an External Database (SQL Server/ Oracle or SQL Server).
  • RHEL/Windows VMs must have a share disk ( /gfs on RHEL or S:/ on Windows) that you use later for cluster configuration

Installation overview

The following steps provide an overview of the sequence for high availability (HA) product installation. For detailed installation steps, see Installing products for HA.

  1. Launch Install Planner using setup.sh/.cmd -J release_dependencies=true parameters.
  2. Select the New Deployment option.
  3. Select the Small Deployment option.
  4. Install the following components on the Primary VM:
    1. Install BMC AR System Server – Cloud Portal and Database – Primary.
    2. Install Atrium Core – Web registry Component.
    3. Install BMC Server Automation - File Server.
    4. Install BMC Server Automation – App Server and Console.
    5. Install Atrium Orchestrator – Configuration Distributed Peer.
    6. Install BMC Network Automation – (install the bca-network-data on the share location /gfs or S:/ disk).
    7. Install Cloud Database Extensions.
    8. Install Cloud Portal AR Extensions.
  5. Install the following components on the Secondary VM:
    1. Install BMC AR System Server – Cloud Portal and Database (Secondary).
    2. Install BMC Server Automation – multiple App Server (MAS) (Secondary).
    3. Install Atrium Orchestrator – configuration distributed peer (HA).
    4. Install BMC Network Automation – (install bca-network-data on share location / gfs or S:/ disk ).
    5. Install Cloud Portal Extensions – Secondary.
    6. Install Cloud Platform Manager (install the configuration folder on the share location /gfs or S:/ disk).
    7. Manually install the Install Atrium Core – Web registry Component, using the Install Planner New Deployment options.
      • Before installation, log on to the AR System server using Demo credentials.
      • Open the SHARE:Application_Properties form.
      • Delete the Atrium Web Services Entries.
  6. Install Platform Manager on the Primary VM.
  7. Configure the cluster. 
  8. Manually create the soft link/service for CSM and Quick Services.
  9. For HA changes, see the existing HA documentation:
    • For all LB supported products (AR, AWS, MT, and BSA), use cloudexpress as the Load Balancer hostname.
    • For all cluster supported products (PM and BNA), use cloudcluster as the cluster hostname.
