Monitoring cloud services in your organization

As a cloud tenant administrator, you use the data available from BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management - Tenant Administration Console to monitor the usage of resources by your cloud end users in your organization's cloud.  The type of information you see is dependent upon the tab you select, My Services or Activities, and the type of service or resource you select, Services, Servers, or Storage.

My Services tab

The My Services tab displays the status of provisioned and requested service instances, servers, and storage as explained in the following sections.

The Services link bar of the My Services tab displays a list of provisioned and requested service instances of users in your organization.  At a glance you can see, for example, the runtime status and the tenant to whom the service belongs, among other information.

When you highlight a service instance from the list, the Details pane on the right side of the window displays information about that service instance:

The information displayed depends on the status and type of service that you highlight, but typical information can include:

  • The name, description, and type of service
  • Commission and decommission dates
  • Any service requests related to the service instance (If a service request exists, clicking the associated link displays request details.)
  • Cost of the service
  • The functional components that comprise the service and the status of each (which can differ from their functional status displayed in the service instances list)

The pane below the service instances list shows associated servers for the highlighted service instance.  Clicking the details icon takes you to the Servers link bar, explained in the next section.  Similarly, when you double-click a service instance in the list, you drill down to the server level, explained in the next section.

The Servers link bar of the My Services tab displays a list and the status of servers that support the provisioned service instances.

When you highlight a server in the list, you can see details such as the amount of memory, decommission date, and what software is deployed, among other details.

The Storage link bar of the My Services tab displays a list and the status of block device and file system storage that supports the provisioned service instances.

When you highlight storage in the list, you can see details such as the capacity and price for the storage.

Activities tab

The Activities tab displays lists of types of action taken against your organization's service instances, servers, and storage.

When you highlight an activity in the list and click the Advanced Error Information icon , a dialog box displays detailed error information that you can use to determine the cause of the error.

Clicking the Service Request link displays a dialog box that shows details and an activity log for the service request generated by the error.
