Integrating BMC Server Automation and other brownfield BMC products

You can integrate the following brownfield BMC products to the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management solution:

  • BMC Atrium Orchestrator
  • BMC Network Automation
  • PXE Server

These BMC products are not built upon the BMC Remedy AR System platform and, therefore, must be integrated

The following procedures explain how to integrate the existing brownfield BMC products to the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management solution:

Before you begin

To integrate one or more of the BMC products listed in this topic, you must first prepare them, as follows:

  1. If any of the listed standalone BMC products are available in your environment, make sure that they meet the supported version requirements.

    Note

If the brownfield BMC products in your environment do not meet the minimum version requirements for BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.0, use their standalone installers to upgrade them to their correct expected version before you integrate them with the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management installer.

  2. Make sure that the host on which the products are installed meets the prerequisites.
  3. Depending on the BMC product that you want to integrate from the following table, perform the preparatory steps:

To integrate brownfield BMC products into BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management

  1. Launch the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management installer and choose the Integrate with an Existing Deployment option.

  2. In the BMC Remedy AR System and BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite – Primary field on the Deployment Template panel, provide the host name on which you installed BMC Service Request Management.
  3. Allow the installer to complete the integration and register the product information on the installation host.
  4. Exit the installer and then relaunch it.
  5. Choose the Modify Existing Deployment option and install the BMC Remedy AR System Cloud Database product.
  6. Follow the installer to perform the post-installation steps for the BMC Remedy AR System and BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite – Primary and the BMC Remedy AR System Cloud Database products.
The installer creates the BMC Atrium Orchestrator user and configures the Distributed Server Option (DSO) mappings during the post-installation steps.
  7. If you want to install the BMC Remedy Mid Tier on a separate server for high availability reasons, perform those steps at this stage.
  8. Relaunch the installer, choose the Modify Existing Deployment option, and install BMC Atrium Web Registry.
  9. If you have any of the following products installed in your environment, integrate them by using the Integrate with an Existing Deployment option in the installer.

For new installations of the following BMC products, choose the Modify Existing Deployment option in the installer.

    1. BMC Server Automation – Application Server and Console
    2. BMC Atrium Web Registry
    3. BMC Atrium Orchestrator
    4. BMC Network Automation
    5. BMC ProactiveNet Data Collection Host
    6. BMC ProactiveNet Central Server
    7. BMC ProactiveNet Server
    8. Cloud Database Extensions
    9. Cloud Platform Manager
    10. Cloud Portal AR Extensions

      Note

Ensure that you install the remaining products in the order specified in Prerequisites-for-installation-installation-order-and-product-dependencies.

For detailed information about installing these products, see Installing-BMC-Cloud-Lifecycle-Management.

  5. Complete the primary application server and Automation Console integration.
  6. Run the BMC Server Automation Post-Install Configuration in the installer.

BMC Server Automation results after you finish the brownfield integration

After you run the BMC Server Automation Post-Install Configuration in the installer, the following changes will be made to your BMC Server Automation Application Server:

  • Three new Application Server Instances (1 Config Deployment and 2 Job Deployments) are added to the BMC Server Automation Application Server.

If you do not need these Application Server deployments, you can stop them.

  • Against the Configuration Server, the Web Services are enabled.
  • Installer creates BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management-specific objects under the Depot folder:

  • Installer creates BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management-specific objects under the Jobs folder:

  • If you are also installing BMC ProactiveNet products as part of the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management stack, the installer creates the following packages under the Jobs folder:
