Launching the BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer for a HA installation

Complete the following steps to launch the BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer for a high availability (HA) installation.

  1. Prepare a separate virtual machine (VM) for the BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer. Use a Microsoft Windows VM if BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management is to be installed on Windows and a Linux VM if BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management is to be installed on Linux.
  2. Download the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management solution installer.
  3. Go to Planner.
  4. Start the installer:
    1. On Windows, double-click the setup.cmd file.
    2. On Linux, launch the installer by using Xmanager.
  5. On the Welcome page, click Next.
  6. Review the license agreement, click I agree to the terms of license agreement, and click Next.
  7. On the Installation Prerequisites panel, review all the prerequisites that you must complete before you start the installation.
  8. Select the I have read the prerequisites check box and select the Do not display this panel for subsequent installations check box if you do not want to view the prerequisites again during other product installations.
  9. Click Next.
  10. On the Directory Selection panel, navigate to the location on the host where you want to install the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management products and click Next.You can accept the default value if you do not have a specific location for the installation files.
  11. Click Next and on the Installation Preview window, click Install.
  12. If BMC Network Shell (NSH) is not installed, the system prompts you to install it.On the NSH installation window, navigate to the directory where you want to install NSH. The default location is C:\Program Files\BMC Software\NSH on Windows and \opt\bmc\nsh on Linux
  13. Click Next.The Select Deployment Type panel appears.
  14. Select the New Deployment option and click Next.
  15. Select the Medium Deployment option for all HA and click Next.
  16. Select the deployment tier based on the products that you want to install first and click Next.
  17. Specify the hostname of the product you want to install. Provide all the node information including primary and secondary nodes for HA installation, with the exception of the BMC Atrium Web registry, Platform Manager, PXE, and BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management products, which are not supported for HA installation. The BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management primary as well as secondary installation needs to be performed manually.
  18. Follow the above steps for Linux BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer.

If you want to clean the planner and run a fresh or want to reinstall the product, perform following steps:

  1. Exit the BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer if it is already open.
  2. Go to C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Planner\ (On Linux, /opt/bmc/Planner/ and take a backup of FileRegistry.xml, FileRegistry.xsd, InstallationTaskConfiguration.xsd and PlannerInstalledConfiguration.xml files.
  3. Delete the original xml and xsd file and launch BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer with release_dependcies=true parameter and select new deployment option.
  4. Specify Secondary Atrium Web Registry and Platform Manager Hostname for HA installation.
