This topic was edited by a BMC Contributor and has not been approved.  More information.

The following sections discuss installing BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management for high availability. This topic contains the following sections:

To install on a Microsoft Windows cluster

BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer does not support BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management HA installation on Windows cluster.

  1. Install RSCD on BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Machines.
  2. Prepare Cluster Machines for Router and Leaf Installation.

To install BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Router using silent file on Windows Cluster

  1. Ensure that the Cluster is Active on Primary Node.
  2. Copy the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Server installer from the BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer machine to BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management target machines.
  3. Run setup.cmd -DINSTALL_TYPE=PRIMARY-i silent -DOPTIONS_FILE=BPPM-Server-silent-options.txt
  4. Ensure that you performed the changes in the silent file before installation.
  5. Stop the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management service using pw sys stop command
  6. Move Cluster to Secondary Node
  7. Run setup.cmd -DINSTALL_TYPE=SECONDARY -i silent -DOPTIONS_FILE=BPPM-Server-silent-options.txt

To install BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Leaf Server using Silent file on Windows Cluster

  1. Ensure that the Cluster is Active on Primary Node.
  2. Copy the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Server installer from the BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer host to the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management target machines.
  3. Run setup.cmd -DINSTALL_TYPE=PRIMARY -i silent -DOPTIONS_FILE=BPPM-Server-silent-options.txt
  4. Make sure you did the changes in the silent file before installation
  5. Stop the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management service using pw sys stop command
  6. Move Cluster to Secondary Node
  7. Run setup.cmd -DINSTALL_TYPE=SECONDARY -i silent -DOPTIONS_FILE=BPPM-Server-silent-options.txt

To install BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management DCH standalone

If you want to install DCH manually then complete the following steps:

  1. Run setup -i silent -DOPTIONS_FILE=DCHOptions.txt from Leaf Server
  2. Make sure you made the changes in the DCHOptions file
  3. If you want to install DCH using BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer
  4. Launch BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer and select Integrate with an Existing Deployment
  5. Select I do not have backup option
  6. Specify Primary BMC Proactive Central server and BMC Proactive Server name. Make sure Cluster is active on Primary host
  7. Once BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Router and Leaf integrate successfully, select Modify Existing Deployment option

  1. Start DCH install using BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer

To install on a Linux cluster

BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer supports BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management HA installation for Linux.
Before you begin, prepare the Cluster Machines for Router and Leaf Server Installation.

To install BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Router using BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer on Linux Cluster

  1. Ensure that the cluster is Active on Primary Node.
  2. Run the set_system_parameter_oracle_pnet.sql script on Oracle database machine using sys credentials to set system parameter requirement for Router. You can find the SQL file at the following location:

    <Installer>\Applications\BPPMServer\Common\Utilities.zip\Utilities\oracle\custom_db_scripts_pnet folder
  3. Change the hostname of the Primary host to ClusterHotname, using the following command:

    hostname <cluster name>
  4. Launch BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer and specify BMC Proactive Net Center Server name (Cluster Hostname). The Cluster hostname should be reachable from BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer and BMC Server Automation host.
  5. Provide correct database information.
  6. For BMC Server Automation information provide primary BMC Server Automation server information.
  7. After a successful installation , change the primary hostname back to the original.

To install the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Leaf Server using BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer on Linux Cluster

  1. Ensure that the cluster is Active on Primary Node.
  2. Run "set_system_parameter_oracle_pnet.sql" script on Oracle database machine using sys credentials to set system parameter requirement for Router.
  3. You can find the SQL file at following location:

    <Installer>\Applications\BPPMServer\Common\Utilities.zip\Utilities\oracle\custom_db_scripts_pnet folder
  4. Change the hostname of the Primary host to ClusterHotname using the following command:

    hostname <cluster name>
  5. Launch BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer and Specify BMC Proactive Leaf Server name ( Cluster Hostname).
  6. Make sure cluster hostname reachable from BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer and BMC Server Automation host.
  7. Follow similar steps of Router installation and follow all instruction, make sure you install BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management on share disk.

To install BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management DCH using BMC Cloud LifeCycle Management installer on Linux Cluster

  1. Make sure you manually create patrol user on target DCH machine.
  2. After Leaf Server Installation, you need to specify DCH target hostname
  3. Follow all installation instruction for DCH installation.
  4. After successful installation, update cluster hostname to Primary host
