Onboarding IBM resources
This topic explains how to onboard IBM resources into BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management. It includes the following sections:
Note
Unlike VMware VirtualCenter, you must manually perform certain workarounds to onboard the IBM resources. This is because BMC is not using the network container templates as managed objects.
Before you begin
Carefully review the following topics:
- Onboarding compute resources
- Creating compute resource pools
There are slight variations when onboarding IBM resources from other compute resources and compute resource pools.
To onboard the IBM frame
- From the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management Administration console, click the vertical Workspaces menu on the left side of the window and select Resources.
- Under Quick Links on the left, click Resources under the Compute section.
- Click the Onboard Resource icon .
The Onboard Resource dialog box is displayed. - Select the pod.
- Select the resource type (for example, Virtual Cluster).
- Under Provider Name, select BBSA.
- From Available Resources, select the IBM frame that you want to onboard.
- Click Onboard.
To compute resource pools
- From the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management Administration Console, click the vertical Workspaces menu on the left side of the window and select Resources.
- Under Quick Links on the left, click Compute Pools under the Compute section.
The list of current compute resource pools is displayed. - Click the Create Compute Pool icon.
The Create Compute Pool dialog box is displayed.
- Type a name for this pool.
- Type a useful description.
- From the Pod menu, select the network pod — that is, the IBM frame — to which this pool will belong.
- From the Resource Type menu, select the type of resources that this pool will contain.
For example, select Virtual Cluster or Virtual Disk Repository (if you are creating a datastore). - From the Provider Type menu, select BBSA.
- From the Vendor menu, select IBM.
Note
This vendor type is new in 3.0.
- From the Hardware Architecture menu, select PowerPC_64.
