Using the Data Explorer


To view the catalog database schema as a tree structure, to select any segment in the tree structure, and to view information about the lowest-level segment, its root segment, and the leaf node to the root node using the Data Explorer option from the Apps menu, complete the following steps.

  1. From the main screen, click Apps.
  2. From the Diagnose/Explore box, click Data Explorer.
  3. The Data Explorer appears and it displays the structure of the catalog database in a tree format as shown in the following figure.Data explorer disply structure.PNG

    For the Data Explorer schema to be displayed correctly, you must ensure that the Java application server is running.

  4. In the ODBM box, from the dropdown list, select an IMS host name.
  5. In the Alias box, from the dropdown list, select an alias for the selected IMS.
  6. Click Refresh. The explorer loads the corresponding DBDs, PSBs, and PCBs for the selected alias.
  7. Select a DBD form the list. The explorer selects the corresponding PSB and PCB.
  8. Click Load Schema. The explorer loads and displays the catalog database schema as a tree structure.
  9. Selecting any segment in the tree structure displays information about the lowest-level segment, its root segment, and the leaf node to the root node as shown below.Data explorer lowest segment data.PNG
  10. Optionally, click Previous or Next to see the information about the previous or next twin segment in the database. If there is no twin segment present, a message is displayed accordingly.
  11. Optionally, click Add Qualification to add appropriate filters for fetching the data for selected headers, DBDs, or segments as shown below, and click Add.data explorer add qualification.png

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
