What's new in the 8.1.00 calendar

The version 8.1.00 Change Calendar is an enhanced calendar tool that provides a more intuitive and visually appealing experience for users. The user interface has been significantly enhanced for a better user experience.

This topic provides an introduction to the new features:

Additional Change Calendar views

The Change Calendar now provides three views. The existing Calendar view has been enhanced to display a consolidated view of the change or release requests, with business events and CI outages.

The following new views have been added:

  • Eventlist view — Displays a list of change or release requests with basic details like the request ID, summary, scheduled start and end date, status, and service. It provides a quick list of all change or release requests.
  • Timeline view — Displays the ID of the change or release request in the left pane, and the related tasks and manifest for the selected duration. It provides a quick list of the change or release requests, and the tasks or manifests related to them.

For more information, see Calendar views.

Additional time duration options

The time duration options include the Month view in addition to the Day and Week views that were available. The timeline bar enables you to select the duration for which you want to view the data. In addition to changing the duration, you can also move the time range by a day, week, or month earlier or later than the current date. The time period depends on the that duration you select. You can click Today on the timeline bar to return to the current date.

The duration of a Week is equivalent to the 5-day and 7-day periods available in the previous version of the Change Calendar.

Quick actions for calendar entries

The right-click menu provided for change and release requests, and their related tasks and activities, enables you to perform the following actions on the request if you have the required permissions:

  • Open the event
  • Edit the summary and scheduled date and time for the event
  • Approve, reject, or reassign requests for which you are a valid approver
  • View Service Context summary information, if the request has a Service CI associated with it

In the Calendar view, you can reschedule the event by using the drag-and-drop feature. When you move the event to a new date, the scheduled dates are automatically updated. You can use this feature to reschedule colliding events.

For additional information about these features, see Calendar functional areas.

View event details

When you hover your mouse pointer over an event on the calendar, basic details of the event are displayed in a small window, known as an InfoTip. The calendar provides options for customizing these InfoTips, and enables you to display the fields of choice for a request.

For more information about configuring InfoTips, see Managing Calendar administrator preferences.

If you want to view additional details for a change or release request, related tasks or manifest, or CI outages, you can select the event and click the Details flyout menu. The Details pane also displays collision and impact information for change and release requests.

For additional information about these features, see Calendar functional areas.

Visual representation of collisions

When you select a change or release request and click the Details flyout menu, the Collision Detection tab displays a list of colliding requests, if any. Colliding changes are displayed in solid shaded blocks enabling you to view them in the Calendar view and Timeline view.

For more information, see Calendar functional areas.

Impact analysis

Similarly, the Impact Analysis tab of the Details flyout menu lists all the relationships of the selected impact type from the relationship list created for that record within the application.

For more information, see Calendar functional areas.

Configurable color schemes for change and release requests

The previous version of the calendar color-coded the change or release records based on the value of the Risk Level field. The colors for each Risk Level value were predefined.

Now you can customize the field based on how you want to color-code the change or release records.

For more information about customizing the field and colors, see Managing Calendar administrator preferences.

Display of CI outages

CI outages can now be displayed as a part of the calendar when you use the Calendar view.

For more information, see Calendar view.
