Managing BMC AMI Utilities default parameters

BMC AMI Utilities have global and product-specific default parameters. To set these, use the process known as the BMC AMI Utilities configuration. After installation you will have member NGT$GLBL in your UBMCCNTL library. This job should be used going forward to manage the default parameters; these parameters are known as plus-parameters as each of them start with a plus “+” sign.

NGT$GLBL is called the global configuration and is for all Db2s. The initial install job and this NGT$GLBL job create/replace members RX100GBL and RX110GBL in the BMC load library named in the LOAD DD, usually UBMCLINK.  These members can be copied to another load library to propagate the same defaults.

Optionally, you can create Db2 subsystem-specific defaults. To do this, copy the NGT$GLBL member to NGT$ssid and change “0GBL” to “ssid” or the Group Attach name for the Db2 data sharing group. If data sharing, use the Group Attach name. If not data sharing, use the Db2 ssid.  Once this new member is edited and executed it will place members RX10ssid and RX11ssid in the BMC load library. BMC AMI Utilities will fall through to the global defaults, 0GBL, for any plus-parameter not specified in the subsystem-specific configuration.  You can have a subsystem-specific configuration with all plus-parameters or just a few that you want to be different for that Db2.

Every BMC AMI Utilities job prints the plus-parameters used for that job. Just prior to that list is a message NGTR305 telling which configuration was used.
