Displaying the entity name in the Host column

The information displayed in the Host column of the Hosts view is computed by the data mart. Depending on the information available, the value will either be the entity name, the collected host name or the collected address (WWN or IQN). To make sure the entity name is always displayed, you can specify either the alias name or the host name identifier for all your systems.

To specify the alias name or the host name identifier of your systems:

  1. Log on to the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console.
  2. Navigate to Workspace > All Domains > <Your Domain> > Systems.
  3. Click the system of your choice to display its details.
  4. Click the Metrics tab.
  5. Specify the alias name for this host:
    1. Click  Add configuration metric.
    2. In Metric field, select Alias Name.
    3. In the Value field, enter your system address.
    4. Click Save.
  6. Specify the network host name identifier:
    1. Click  Add configuration metric.
    2. In Metric field, select Host name identifier
    3. In the Value field, enter the name provided by the connectors, in the metrics of the STOHOST dataset.
    4. Click Save.
