Configuring BMC Helix Business Workflows to use Workday APIs

As an administrator, to configure BMC Helix Business Workflows to connect to Workday APIs by using BMC Helix iPaaS, powered by Jitterbit, you must perform the following actions:

Before you begin

Ensure that you meet the following requirements:

To configure BMC Helix iPaaS, powered by Jitterbit

Contact your BMC Helix iPaaS, powered by Jitterbit Open link account representative to deploy and configure Workday operations on your BMC Helix iPaaS, powered by Jitterbit instance.

Important

While configuring your BMC Helix iPaaS, powered by Jitterbit instance, you must note the endpoint host name of the APIs. You need to provide the host name when you configure BMC Helix Business Workflows to use Workday APIs.

To create a Web API connection 

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio.
  2. Click the Administration tab, and select Connections > Web APIs.
  3. On the Web API Connection page, click New, and specify the following field values:

    Host NameSpecify the BMC Helix iPaaS, powered by Jitterbit instance host name that is configured in the BMC Helix iPaaS, powered by Jitterbit APIs.

    ProtocolHTTPS
    AuthenticationBasic

    LoginSpecify the username that is configured in the BMC Helix iPaaS, powered by Jitterbit APIs.
    PasswordSpecify the password that is configured in the BMC Helix iPaaS, powered by Jitterbit APIs.
  4. Click Save.

To configure the APIs in Task Management Service

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio.
  2. From the Workspace tab, navigate to the Task Management Service library.
  3. In the Task Management Service library, click Web APIs, and open the Jitterbit API.
  4. In the Details section, edit the Path value to match the BMC Helix iPaaS, powered by Jitterbit endpoint.
  5. Save the changes.

To validate the automated task processes

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio.
  2. From the Workspace tab, navigate to the Task Management Service library.
  3. In the Task Management Service library, click Processes.
  4. For the processes Request Leave of Absence from Workday, Update Employee Address in Workday, Get Time Off Balance from Workday, and Update Legal Name in Workday, perform the following steps:
    1. Open the process, and select the Call Jitterbit API element.
    2. In the Input Map section of the Call Jitterbit API element, set the Connection value as Jitterbit, and save the process.

To set connection alias mapping

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Innovation Studio, and navigate to the Administration tab. 
  2. Select Configure My Server Connection Mappings Web API.
  3. From the Select Application list, select the Task application.

  4. In Connection Configuration, select the Connection value as Jitterbit.
  5. Click Save.
