Check for a feature pack or fix pack

BMC releases periodic product updates through feature packs and fix packs.

Review the  Release notes and notices  section for any new feature pack or fix pack and apply it relevant to your environment.

Verify the Capacity Optimization product registration with the Presentation Server

After you upgradeTrueSight Capacity Optimization, you must review whether the TrueSight Capacity Optimization product is still connected with the Presentation Server.

  1. In the TrueSight console, click Administration > Components.
  2. In the Components page, check whether the Capacity Optimization component is displayed as connected.

If the component displays error, remove the component and add it again.

  1. In the Components page, select the action menu  next to Components, and select Add Component.

  2. For Component Type, select Capacity Optimization.

  3. Enter the Host name of the Application Server component of TrueSight Capacity Optimization . In case of multiple Application Servers, enter the host name of the Application Server that runs the Data Hub.

Adding an IP address is no longer supported. With an IP address, access to the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console, which is hosted on the Application Server, from the TrueSight console fails. You must edit the host name of the Application Server that was added in the past after you upgrade the Presentation Server.

  4. Select the Protocol as HTTPS or HTTP. The default is HTTPS.
  5. Accept the Port default value (8280 for Data Hub or 8380 for Service Container).

In order to have a successful integration, the following backend services of the Application Server must run on the same generic service container or Data Hub:
    • API Providers - Agent Data service

    • API Providers - Data Provider service

    • API Providers - Search service

If you decide to relocate a backend service, you must relocate all three of them to the new container, re-register the TrueSight Capacity Optimizationcomponent, and enter the port value according to the current container (Data Hub - 8280, Service Container - 8380). For more information about service containers, see Managing Service Containers.

  6. Accept * as the default tenant, or select any of the listed tenants. The list includes each tenant defined in the Remedy Single Sign-On system.

  7. Click Save.

The Capacity Optimization component is added and is listed in the Components page.

Upgrade capacity views

You must upgrade the capacity views after registering the Capacity Optimization product with the TrueSight Presentation Server. Also, you can upgrade a customized out-of-the-box view to go back to the original, default settings.

If you want to upgrade the Storage, Network, or Hadoop views, you need to upload the new view package file. For more information, see Installing capacity views.

Ensure that any changes made to the out-of-the-box view that you want to upgrade are saved. Failing to do so, after the upgrade, the changes will be lost and the view will return to its default settings. For more information, see Exporting and importing views.

To upgrade a capacity view

  1. In the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console, click Administration > System > Maintenance.
The Maintenance page is displayed, with the Additional Packages tab selected.
  2. In the Additional Packages table, for the view that you want to upgrade, click  to upgrade the view.

If a view was not installed earlier, you must install it. For more information, see Installing capacity views.

The Status column displays RUNNING until the view upgrade is in process. After the upgrade completes, the Status column displays INSTALLED.

The upgraded views appear under the Views tab. These views are owned by the admin user, and to grant access to other users, the admin user must edit each view and associate it with one or more access groups.

Where to go from here

Now that you have upgraded the TrueSight Capacity Optimization product, you can start using the product.
