11.3.01.001: Fix pack 1

This topic contains information about fixes and updates provided in this fix pack. It also provides instructions for downloading and applying the fix pack.  

Before you install this fix pack, you must have previously installed the base version (11.3.01) of the product. Fix packs are cumulative and contain all updates released prior to the fix pack.

Enhancements

TrueSight Capacity Optimization11.3.01.001 offers the following enhancements: 


New Business Driver data explorer custom view template

Use the new, out-of-the-box Business Driver data explorer view page template to define a custom view that displays detailed charts related to a given business driver.  You can use this template to show the behavior of business driver metrics over fixed time periods. For more information, see Configuring the Business Driver data explorer template.


Support for Azure Government subscription

Microsoft Azure - Azure API Extractor is enhanced to support data collection from your Azure Government Cloud subscriptions to analyze and optimize the capacity of the Government Cloud resources. For more information, see Microsoft Azure - Azure API Extractor.


Support for Java 1.8 64-bit with Integration Studio

The Integration Studio is now enhanced to support Oracle Java Development Kit 1.8 64-bit. For more information, see Integration Studio hardware and software requirements.




Applying the fix pack

The fix pack is applicable for the following TrueSight Capacity Optimization components: Application Server, ETL Engine, and Gateway Server. This fix pack does not include any updates for Capacity Agent. 

Warning

Before applying this fix pack, ensure that you have an OS backup or a VM snapshot of servers on which the components are installed.

Applying the Fix Pack 1 consists of the following steps:

  1. Download the Fix Pack 1.
  2. Apply Fix Pack 1 to the Application Server and ETL Engine.
  3. Apply Fix Pack 1 to the Gateway Server.

Step 1: Download the Fix Pack 1

To access the EPD website, you must provide your BMC Support credentials. You must be licensed for the product to access the download page. You may be prompted to complete the Export Compliance Form.

Use the EPD links in the following sections to access the installation files on the EPD website. From the EPD page, download the installation files for your platform.

Step 2: Apply Fix Pack 1 to the Application Server and ETL Engine

Apply the Fix Pack 1 to the Application Server.


  1. In the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console, navigate to Administration  >  System  >  Maintenance  Patches.
  2. In the Upload patch or additional package file section, click Choose File.
  3. Navigate to the directory where you downloaded the install files, select the TSCO_AppServer_ver11.3.01.001_AS.zip file, and click Upload to apply the fix pack to the Application Server.

  4. On the Step 1 of 2: Overview page, click Next.
  5. On the Step 2 of 2: Hosts selection page, select the required hosts to be updated.
  6. Click Proceed
    The patch file is deployed automatically.
    The TrueSight Capacity Optimization console is stopped and restarted during the update, which can take up to 15 minutes to complete.

BApply the Fix Pack 1 to the ETL Engine.
  1. In the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console, navigate to Administration  >  System  >  Maintenance  Patches.
  2. In the Upload patch or additional package file section, click Choose File.
  3. Navigate to the directory where you downloaded the install files, select the TSCO_AppServer_ver11.3.01.001_EE.zip  file, and click Upload to apply the fix pack to the ETL Engine.
  4. On the Step 1 of 2: Overview page, click Next.
  5. On the Step 2 of 2: Hosts selection page, select the required hosts to be updated.
  6. Click Proceed
    The patch file is deployed automatically.

CPerform this task if Sentry or Moviri ETL modules and capacity views are already configured in your environment.
  1. Download the latest Sentry and Moviri packages from EPD. For more information, see Sentry and Moviri Integrators .
  2. Redeploy the Moviri and Sentry ETL modules. For more information, see the topic for deploying and configuring the required ETL module in Moviri ETL modules and Sentry ETL modules.
  3. Reinstall the Storage, Hadoop, and Network views. For more information, see Installing capacity views.

Step 3: Apply Fix Pack 1 to the Gateway Server

  1. Log in to the system where the Gateway Server is installed.
  2. Navigate to the directory where you downloaded the installation files.
  3. Extract the files:
    • (Windows) Extract TSCO_GatewayServer_ver11.3.01.001_MSWindows.zip
    • (Linux) tar -xvf TSCO_GatewayServer_ver11.3.01.001_Linux_x86-64.tar
  4. Run the following command to apply the patch:
    • (Windows) BPAPatchTool.cmd
    • (Linux) ./BPAPatchTool.sh
  5. Select the package and follow the instructions.
Step 4: Reinstall the Capacity Optimization plugin

After you install a cumulative hotfix, fix pack, or feature pack, you must reinstall the Capacity Optimization plugin to use the latest updates to the features that are available in the TrueSight console.
