Simulate a recovery

If you are interested in executing the created recovery JCL, you can choose to simulate a recovery.

The Recovery Simulation feature is available only if you use the BMC Recovery utility to perform the recovery.

Using the Recovery Simulation feature, the BMC Recovery utility validates control statements, creates a tape pull list, validates and reports the data set names that are generated by the data set name user exit, reads all input data sets (logs, change accumulations, and image copies), and scans indexes, but it does not write the output databases.

Because the Recovery Simulation feature reads the inputs, you will need to use a profile that does not specify use of secondary recovery assets unless they are kept at the home site.

Only the recovery step is created when you simulate a recovery. Other steps, such as the step to start databases, are not created.

For more information, see Create-and-execute-recovery-JCL.
