Overview of the IMS Command Entry feature

The IMS Command Entry feature works with any IMS command.

However, these IMS commands may not always give you positive control over the database. Because these commands follow the normal rules for MTO commands and IMS (AOI) command processing programs (for example, some commands may not be processed immediately), receiving a good return code from the IMS Command Entry feature does not indicate that the command has completed successfully.

The IMS Command Entry feature works independently of the AOI; you can turn off AOI processing and still use the IMS Command Entry feature.

For more information, see Issuing-IMS-commands-from-the-Image-Copy-utility-job.
