We are no longer updating the individual documentation spaces for these components. For the latest documentation, see BMC AMI Backup and Recovery for IMS 5.2.

FSE keyword (ICPSYSIN)

Use the FSE keyword to specify whether the utility should clear free space elements (FSEs) to binary zeros before compression.

You can do this only if you have also specified ICCOMP(Y) and ICALG(2) or ICALG(3).

If you specify either common character compression or full character compression and you also specify FSE(Y), free space elements are cleared to binary zeros prior to compression. If any logical or physical orphans exist in an FSE, they are lost. However, clearing free space elements can give you significant reductions in the amount of output data.

Uses

Optional in global and database-specific options modules. Optional on the following control statements:

  • GLBL
  • GROUP
  • IC and AIC
  • OIC and AOIC
  • CIC and ACIC
  • IIC and AIIC
  • REC and AREC

Related keywords

The utility ignores the FSE keyword if it is specified along with ASIS(Y) for the CIC and ACIC functions.
This option is ignored if the utility is doing no compression or if it is doing free space element elimination only, as specified with ICALG(1).

Syntax

FSE(value)

Values

Specify one of the following values:

  • Y—Clear FSEs to binary zeros before compression.
  • N—Do not clear FSEs to binary zeros before compression.

Default
