Tip

For more information about issues corrected in this patch, see Known and corrected issues

Notes

  • You can install this patch on 64-bit computers, not 32-bit.
  • You must have installed BMC Remedy AR System 9.1.00 Patch 1 and BMC Atrium Core 9.1.00 before running the patch installer.
  • When the BMC Atrium Core patch is being applied, the patch installer restarts the BMC Remedy AR System server as part of the installation process.
  • Before installing the patch, make sure that to set the Max Attach Size field to 0 in the Configuration tab on the Server Information console. After changing the setting, restart the server and then install the patch.

Reviewing the patches currently installed on your computer

To review all the current patches installed on your computer, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the Maintenance Tool (installed under C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Atrium Core\atriumcore).
  2. Click Browse to Log.
  3. Scroll through the Navigation pane to find the <Product>InstalledConfiguration.xml file for the product patch that you installed.
    For example:
    C:\Program Files\BMC Software\AtriumCore\AtriumCoreInstalledConfiguration.xml
  4. Double-click the file to open it in the Maintenance Tool.
  5. Click the Property Bundle tab.
  6. Under Updates, review the patches installed on your computer (for example, Patch 001).

Upgrade path on a primary server or a single server

The following is the upgrade path to BMC Atrium CMDB 9.1 Patch 1.

  1. Install BMC Atrium CMDB 9.1.00, BMC Atrium Core Web Services 9.1.00, BMC Atrium Core Web Registry 9.1.00, and BMC Atrium Integrator 9.1.00.

All installed Atrium components must be upgraded to 9.1.00 prior to applying the Atrium CMDB 9.1.00 Patch 1. If you upgrade any of these components to 9.1.00 after applying the 9.1.00.001 patch, the installer reports an error.

  2. Apply BMC Atrium CMDB 9.1 Patch 1.

Upgrade path on a secondary server

The following section explains the steps to install or upgrade to BMC Atrium CMDB 9.1 Patch 1 on the secondary or non-admin servers. You must run the SHARED:Application_Properties version utility. When you run the utility, the versions of the following components are updated in the Shared: Application_Properties form to 9.1.00:

  •  BMC Atrium CMDB
  • BMC Atrium Impact Simulator
  • BMC Atrium Core Web Services
  • BMC Atrium Integrator
  • BMC Product Catalog
  • BMC Atrium Core Web Services Registry

    Note

When running the BMC Atrium Core 9.1.00 installer on a secondary server, the installer reports that the version of the installed BMC Atrium components is higher than the version you are trying to install. This is because BMC Atrium CMDB 9.1.00 Patch 1 is installed on the primary server. To work around this issue, follow the steps below. See KA000118470.

To upgrade BMC Atrium Core on a secondary server

  1. Run the SHARED:Application_Properties version utility.
    1. Download and unzip the version utility files.
    2.  On the command prompt, type the following command:

      For Linux:

      [root@<localhost>]# ./SetCMDB.9.1.00.sh

      For Windows:

      <installDirectory>\Version utility>SetCMDB.9.1.00.bat

    3. Modify the following values, as required:

      • Update the host name, BMC Remedy AR admin username and password, and BMC Remedy AR port number.

      • (Optional) If you have not installed BMC Atrium Core Web Services and BMC Atrium Core Web Services Registry, comment out the entries in the file, as shown in the following example:

        java -jar SetProductVersion.jar "<host name>" "<username>" "<password>" "<AR port>" "BMC Atrium CMDB 9.1.00"
        java -jar SetProductVersion.jar "<host name>" "<username>" "<password>" "<AR port>" "Atrium Impact Simulator 9.1.00"
        //java -jar SetProductVersion.jar "<host name>" "<username>" "<password>" "<AR port>" "Atrium Web Services 9.1.00"
        java -jar SetProductVersion.jar "<host name>" "<username>" "<password>" "<AR port>" "BMC Atrium Integrator 9.1.00"
        java -jar SetProductVersion.jar "<host name>" "<username>" "<password>" "<AR port>" "Product Catalog 9.1.00"
        //java -jar SetProductVersion.jar "<host name>" "<username>" "<password>" "<AR port>" "Web Services Registry 9.1.00
  2. Install BMC Atrium CMDB 9.1.00 and BMC Atrium Integrator 9.1.00.
  3. Run the SHARED:Application_Properties version utility:
    1. Modify SetCMDB.9.1.00.001sh (for Linux) or SetCMDB.9.1.00.001bat (for Windows) to update the host name, BMC Remedy AR admin username and password, and BMC Remedy AR port number.

      java -jar SetProductVersion.jar "<host name>" "<username>" "<password>" "<AR port>" "BMC Atrium CMDB 9.1.00.001"
      java -jar SetProductVersion.jar "<host name>" "<username>" "<password>" "<AR port>" "Atrium Impact Simulator 9.1.00.001"
      java -jar SetProductVersion.jar "<host name>" "<username>" "<password>" "<AR port>" "Atrium Web Services 9.1.00.001"
      java -jar SetProductVersion.jar "<host name>" "<username>" "<password>" "<AR port>" "BMC Atrium Integrator 9.1.00.001"
      java -jar SetProductVersion.jar "<host name>" "<username>" "<password>" "<AR port>" "Product Catalog 9.1.00.001"
      java -jar SetProductVersion.jar "<host name>" "<username>" "<password>" "<AR port>" "Web Services Registry 9.1.00.001"
    2. On the command prompt, type the following command:
      For Linux:

      [root@<localhost> opt]# ./SetCMDB.9.1.00.001.sh

      For Windows:

      <installDirectory>\Version utility>SetCMDB.9.1.00.001.bat

Running the utility sets the version of the BMC Atrium Core components in the Shared: Application_Properties form back to 9.1.00.001.

  4. Apply BMC Atrium CMDB 9.1 Patch 1.

Installing the patches and reviewing the results

The patch installer determines which modules are already installed on the target computer and then applies the patches only to those modules. For example, if you run the BMC Atrium Core patch installer on a computer that is running only the BMC Atrium Core server, then only the fixes relevant to the BMC Atrium Core server are applied.
