Installation and upgrade updates in Service Pack 1

With this release, the following deployment related changes are made:

Pre-requisites for Service Pack 1

Install BMC Remedy Action Request (AR) System Platform components 9.1 Patch 1 and BMC Atrium Core 9.1 Patch 1 before installing BMC Remedy IT Service Management (ITSM) 9.1 Service Pack 1. Some of the functionalities of BMC Remedy applications at version 9.1 Service Pack 1  do not work as expected without BMC Remedy AR Platform components 9.1 Patch 1 and BMC Atrium Core 9.1 Patch 1. For example, BMC Remedy Single Sign-on configured for SAML authentication has a dependency on BMC Remedy AR Sever 9.1 Patch 1. See, Installing BMC Remedy AR System 9.1.00.001 and Installing BMC Atrium Core 9.1.00.001. 

 

BMC Remedy ITSM Suite installer enhancements

In the previous releases of BMC Remedy ITSM Suite, BMC Remedy Configuration Check utility was separately run before running installers of other BMC Remedy ITSM Suite components during upgrade. In this release, the BMC Remedy ITSM installer, BMC Remedy Service Request Management installer, and BMC Remedy Service Level Management installer are bundled with a configuration check utility each. When the installer is run, it invokes BMC Remedy pre-upgrade checks specific to the application being installed.

If your system fails to meet any upgrade pre-requisites, the installer panel notifies about the validation failure. Clicking Prechecker Result File opens an HTML report that lists the errors and recommended steps to fix those errors. 

The HTML file is stored in the respective application installation path: 

  • ITSM report : <install-dir>\Logs\result
  • SRM report:  <install-dir>\Backup\BackUpOldLogs_*\result
  • SLM report:  <install-dir>\Backup\BackUpOldLogs_*\result

Before you re-run the installer, you must fix those errors. If you ignore the installer instructions, the installer requires that you acknowledge the errors by selecting a check box before you proceed with install or upgrade.
