This section provides information about what is new or changed for deployment of BMC Remedy ITSM 9.1, which includes installation and upgrade resolved issues, documentation updates, maintenance releases, service packs, and patches.

This section only includes information about changes since the most recent release of BMC Remedy IT Service Management (ITSM) Suite. If you are upgrading from a previous release, review the release notes for all applicable versions of the product. For example, if you are upgrading from version 7.6.04, review the release notes for both versions 8.0 and 8.1 .

September 4, 2017 9.1.03.001: Patch 1 for Service Pack 3

This patch provides the following enhancements and defect fixes:

  • Zero-downtime upgrade support for patch installation.
  • When you run the BMC Remedy AR System 9.1.03.001 installer, it automatically disables background operations while the patch installation is in progress. Manual processes such as disabling of hierarchical groups and escalations are automated when the installer runs in upgrade mode. These processes are re-enabled after the upgrade is complete. 
June 9, 2017 9.1.03: Service Pack 3

This release focuses on decreasing the outage window for upgrades. For details about the enhancements, see the following:

February 17, 2017 9.1.02.001: Patch 1 for version 9.1 Service Pack 2 

This patch consolidates all the Hot Fixes delivered for BMC Remedy AR System version 9.1.02 into a single patch release. The patch contains fixes in Mid Tier, Email Engine and web service areas. Improvements are also made in Server performance with Oracle database.

December 5, 2016 9.1.02: Service Pack 2

This release focuses on improving upgrade experience. For details about the enhancements, see the following:

August 8, 2016 9.1.00.001: Recommended post-upgrade hotfixes After you upgrade to BMC Remedy Action Request System 9.1.00.001, BMC Software recommends that you apply hot fix 9100_20160724, or the latest hotfix release that is available, to resolve several web services fixes.
June 23, 2016 9.1.00.001: Patch 1 for version 9.1.00

Patch 1 for version 9.1.00 is available for the following components:

  • BMC Remedy AR System
  • BMC Atrium Core
June 23, 2016 Installation and upgrade updates in Service Pack 1 In this release, the BMC Remedy ITSM installer, BMC Remedy Service Request Management installer, and BMC Remedy Service Level Management installer are bundled with a configuration check utility each. When the installer is run, it invokes BMC Remedy pre-upgrade checks specific to the application being installed.

9.1.01: Service Pack 1 for Application components

ITSM Service Pack 1 introduces following enhancement for better deployment:

BMC Remedy ITSM installer, BMC Remedy Service Request Management installer, and BMC Remedy Service Level Management installer are bundled with a configuration check utility. When the installer is run, it invokes BMC Remedy pre-upgrade checks specific to the application being installed.

June 23, 2016 9.1.01: Service Pack 1 for BMC Remedy SSO

BMC Remedy Single Sign-On (BMC Remedy SSO) 9.1 Service Pack 1 introduces new authentication methods and enhanced security features. The service pack introduces the following enhancements:

    • Kerberos authentication
    • Certificate-based authentication for CAC, PIV, and Smart Cards
    • LDAP authentication with SASL
    • Security enhancements

Note

The BMC Remedy AR System Help file for BMC Remedy Single Sign-On version 9.1.01 that is provided on the product DVD in the BMC_Remedy_Action_Request_System_RSSO_9.1.01_doc.zip file does not install as expected.

To install the Help file, download the latest offline documentation file from the BMC Remedy Single Sign-On product download page that is available on the BMC Support site.

9.1.00 enhancements

BMC Remedy ITSM Suite 9.1 is available with the following new features:

  • BMC Remedy AR System provides the Call Home functionality with opt-in facility to collect diagnostic information and to track upgrade related issues.
  • BMC Remedy Process Designer is now available with an Update Permissions utility to rectify data errors on the forms.
  • Multi-tenancy update is now a part of the BMC Remedy ITSM installer.
  • Zero down time (platform-only) upgrade is now supported for all operating systems and databases.
