Installing Flashboards remotely

Installing Flashboards remotely on Microsoft Windows

  1. Copy the Fashboard binaries to the flashboards folder.
    For example, C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\flashboards
  2. Update or add the following entries to the server.conf file, located in the flashboards folder:
    ARServerName=<ServerName>
    ARServerTcpPort=<ServerTCPPort>
    RMIRegistryPort=<FlashBoardRMIRegistryPort>
    ARServerRpcNumber=<FlashBoardRPCPort>
    Password=<EncryptedARApplicationPassword>
  3. Update or add the following entries to the server.bat file, located in the flashboards folder:
    set LIBVER=<BuildVersion> For example, <BuildVersion> = 90_build002
  4. Create an empty logs folder under the flashboards folder.
  5. Create a Flashboard service using the fbserver.bat file, located in the flashboards folder.
  6. Pass the following arguments to the batch file:
    • Install folder
    • The jvm.dll path
    • The Flashboard install directory path
    • The Build Version
    • The server name where Flashboard is configured
      For example, c:\Program Files\BMC Software\AR System\flashboards>"C:\Program Files\BMC Software\AR System\flashboards\fbserver.bat" install "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\server\jvm.dll" "C:\Program Files\BMC Software\AR System\flashboards" 90_build002 VW-PUN-REM-QA5L.bmc.com
  7. Start the Flashboard service.

Installing Flashboards remotely on UNIX

  1. Copy the flashboard binaries to the Flashboard install directory.
    For example,/opt/bmc/ARSystem/flashboards
  2. Update or add the following entries to the server.conf file, located in the flashboards folder:
    ARServerName=<ServerName>
    ARServerTcpPort=<ServerTCPPort>
    RMIRegistryPort=<FlashBoardRMIRegistryPort>
    ARServerRpcNumber=<FlashBoardRPCPort>
    Password=<EncryptedARApplicationPassword>
  3. Update or add the following entries to the server.sh file, located in the flashboards folder:
    JAVA_DIR=<HomePathOfInstalledJRE> For example, /opt/java/jre7
    JAVA_BIN=<BinPathOfInstalledJRE> For example, /opt/java/jre7/bin
    JAVA_LIB=<libPathOfInstalledJRE> For example, /opt/java/jre7/lib
    flashInstallPath=<FlashboardInstallLocation> For example, {{/opt/bmc/ARSystem/flashboards
    LIBVER=<BuildVersion> For example, {{90_build002
  4. Create an empty logs folder under the flashboards folder.
  5. Start the Flashboard service.
