Components of the Delta Data Migration Tool

Note

In this topic, <MigratorInstallDirectory> refers to the directory where BMC Remedy Migrator is installed. The default location is C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Migrator\

The Delta Data Migration Tool that is included with BMC Remedy Migrator consists of the following components:

  • Configuration.xml: The file that the DeltaMigration.exe executable uses to run the correct package versions from the Packages folder.

    Notes

    1. Update the Configuration.xml file with the directory path where BMC Remedy Migrator is installed.
      migrator-dir="<MigratorInstallDirectory>\migrator".
    2. Add the directory path where BMC Remedy Migrator is installed to the Path variable in your computer settings.
      For example, add the directory path <MigratorInstallDirectory>\migrator to the Path variable.
  • DeltaMigration.exe: The executable that is run to compare or migrate your data from the current production server to the staging server (the new production server).

The Delta Data Migration tool consists of the following directories, which are stored under <MigratorInstallDirectory>\migrator\DeltaDataMigration:

  • Packages: Contains the package, instruction XML files, and mapping files for all supported versions of the following products. See also Contents of the application package.

    • BMC Atrium Core
    • BMC Knowledge Management
    • BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management
    • BMC Remedy Action Request (AR) System
    • BMC Remedy IT Service Management (ITSM)
    • BMC Service Impact Manager
    • BMC Service Level Management
    • BMC Service Request Management
    • Integration for BMC Remedy Service Desk
  • Utilities: Contains two utilities that you can use to find and package custom forms from your server:
    • A count utility (AREntryCounter)
    • Custom forms packaging utility

Note

Do not modify the contents of any folders, unless directed to do so by BMC.
