Updating Password Objects on three-way join form

The BMC Atrium Single Sign-On server fails to confirm the password for the users not present in the BMC Remedy AR System database, because the BMC Remedy AR System server cannot compare the password received from the client.

Notes

  • When you upgrade to Service Pack 2, the upgrade takes care of updating the password objects on the three-way join form for all the applications integrated with BMC Remedy Approval Server.
  • For all the applications installed after you upgrade to Service Pack 2, you must manually update the password objects on the three-way join form so that the Require password field on the AP-Process Definition form works correctly. For more information about Require password field, see Require Password  in the BMC Remedy AR System documentation.

The BMC Remedy Approval Server should perform the following activities for enabling password confirmation in BMC Atrium Single Sign-On environment.

To update password objects on the three-way join form

  1. (UNIX) Navigate to ARSystemServerInstallDir and export the directory as a shared library path by using one of the following commands:
    • On the Oracle Solaris and Linux operating systems:
      #export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/ar/ARSystemServerInstallDir/bin
    • On the HP-UX operating system:
      #export SHLIB_PATH=/usr/ar/ARSystemServerInstallDir/bin
    • On the IBM AIX operating system:
      #export LIBPATH=/usr/ar/ARSystemServerInstallDir/bin

      Note

You need to set the library paths on UNIX for all approval server utilities.

  2. Run the joinfix utility available for your platform as described in  Running the approval utilities  in the BMC Remedy AR System documentation.
  3. Enter the appropriate approval request form name, and press Enter.
The following table provides examples of applications and their application request forms.

Example applications and their application request forms

    Application
    Application request form
    Get Agreement sample applicationAP-Sample2:Get Agreement
    Lunch Scheduler sample applicationAP-Sample:Lunch Scheduler
    BMC Change ManagementCHG:Change
    BMC Asset ManagementAST:PurchaseRequisition

The utility prompts you for a response:
    1. Update Join Criteria
    2. Add new fields in Three-way Join Form
    3. Update Password Objects on Three-way Join Form
    Arguments:

  4. Enter 3 to update the password objects, and press Enter.
The utility checks the value of -f switch. If a value is supplied, the utility performs the changes for the form specified. If the -f switch value is not applied, the utility performs the changes for all the three-way joins of the AP:Detail-Signature form and the Application request form present on the system.
The utility performs the following changes:

    1. Searches the three-way join form for an application form.

    2. Checks whether if the field ID 123 is present on this form. If it is not, the utility adds the field from the AP:Detail-Signature form.

    3. Checks whether if the active link AP:SetFieldPassword123 is present on the system. If it is present, the utility checks whether the current three-way join form is part of the active link. If the form is not part of the active link, the utility adds the form.
If the active link is not present, the utility creates the active link with the given form name.

If the form name is not specified to the -f option, the utility performs all of the above steps.
