BMC Service Level Management checks

This topic covers information on the checks performed by the BMC Remedy Configuration Check utility for BMC Service Level Management. It also describes the expected results of the checks and corrective actions to be taken if a check fails. The following checks are included:

AR Server Group Check

DescriptionThis check validates the BMC Remedy Action Request (AR) System server configuration for a server group environment. It verifies that the environment is in compliance with known information about the BMC Remedy AR System server targeted for installation.
TypePre-upgrade check
Check performed and expected resultThe check reports information about the existence of a server group environment.
Corrective ActionNo corrective action.

AR Server License Check

DescriptionThis check validates the license of the BMC Remedy AR System server.
TypePre-upgrade check
Check performed and expected resultIf the license is valid, the check is successful. Otherwise, the check fails and returns an error.
Corrective ActionObtain and import a valid AR System server license.

Applications Version Check

Description

This check validates the current version of following applications:

  • BMC Remedy AR System server
  • BMC Remedy IT Service Management
  • BMC Atrium Core
  • Atrium Integrator
  • BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management CMDB Extensions
TypePre-upgrade check
Check performed and expected resultThe expected versions for the applications are:
  • BMC Remedy AR System server 8.1.00
  • BMC Remedy ITSM 8.1.00.00
  • BMC Atrium Core 8.1.00.00
  • Atrium Integrator 8.1.00.00
  • BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management CMDB Extensions 8.6.02.00

If the versions of the applications match the expected versions, the check is successful. Otherwise, the check fails and returns an error.

Corrective ActionUpgrade specific applications to required the version.

SLM Application License Check

DescriptionThis check validates if the BMC Service Level Management application is licensed on the target system.
TypePre-upgrade check
Check performed and expected resultIf the BMC Service Level Management application is licensed on the target system, the check is successful.
Otherwise, the check fails and reports an error.
Corrective ActionObtain and import BMC Service Level Management license.

Temp Space Availability Check

DescriptionThis check validates if enough temporary space is available for the installation to run.
TypePre-upgrade check
Check performed and expected resultIf the temporary space available is more than 2 GB, the check is successful.
Otherwise, the check fails and reports an error. 
Corrective ActionRedefine the tmp or temp variable, or clear some space on the temp directory.
