Installing

BMC provides Jenkins pipelines to install BMC Helix IT Service Management on your on-premises systems. To get started with the installation, you must understand the end-to-end process for implementing BMC Helix IT Service Management on your system. To set up your system, you must meet the system requirements, download the installation files, perform the installation, complete the system configurations, and then make the system available to the users.

BMC Helix IT Service Management installation process

A typical installation of BMC Helix IT Service Management requires two namespaces as shown in the following image:

Important

bmc-helix-platform and bmc-helix-innovation-suite-poc are example namespace names. The actual namespace names are specific to your environment.

Important:

  • The Kubernetes cluster and worker node sizing guidelines in the Sizing and scalability considerations topic do not include BMC Helix Business Workflows and BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Broker requirements.
  • If you plan to install BMC Helix ITSM Insights, see BMC Helix ITSM Insights resource requirements.
cPlan and set up your Kubernetes cluster

Review the supported orchestration platforms and set up the cluster where you want to install BMC Helix Innovation Suite.

Create the namespaces to install BMC Helix Platform and BMC Helix Innovation Suite, and configure the master and worker nodes in the cluster.

dSet up load balancer and Ingress controller

Review the supported load balancer, load balancer SSL methods, and headers for SSL configurations

Review the Ingress controller and parameter value requirements.

Set up the load balancer and Ingress controller for your cluster.

eSet up hardware requirements for BMC Deployment Engine

Review the Jenkins server requirements to set up the BMC Deployment Engine.

    In this doc, it says "A typical installation of BMC Helix IT Service Management requires three namespaces as shown in the following image:", but in the picture only shows two. What would be the 3rd namespace, just as example?
