Configuring Private RPC Port for BMC Remedy Process Designer

This topic describes how to configure Private RPC Socket during a fresh installation or upgrade of BMC Remedy Process Designer. 

Note

If you do not set a value, by default, the value is set to 0 (zero).

Use the private RPC program number from one of the following ranges (for example, 390685):

  • 390621 - 390634
  • 390636 - 390669
  • 390680 - 390694

Upgrade

When you upgrade Process Designer, the value for the Private RPC Socket remains same as specified during the previous installation. This value is updated at the following locations and can be changed during upgrade:

  • ABYD System Configuration form: To verify the value of the Private RPC Socket, navigate to the ABYD System Console.  
  • ARI logs: To verify the value, browse to [C:\Program Files (x86)\BMC Software\Process Designer 8\Server\ari.log]
  • ar.cfg file: To verify the value, browse to [C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\Conf]  

Fresh Installation

During a fresh installation, the Private RPC Socket value is set at default (0). To update the RPC Socket value, select the Private RPC Socket option and enter the required value in the corresponding field.

 

After the installation, this value is updated at the following locations:

    • ABYD System Configuration form: To verify the value of the Private RPC Socket, navigate to the ABYD System Console.  
    • ARI logs: To verify the value, depending on the operating system, browse to:
      • Linux: /<Process Designer Installed Directory>/bmc/ARSystem/pluginsvr/processdesigner/ari.log
      • Windows: 
    • ar.cfg file: To verify the value, browse to [C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\Conf]
