Migrating a modified service target or agreement after initial migration

For products included in the BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite (ITSM) Suite, including BMC Service Request Management and BMC Service Level Management, you might want to migrate a modified service target or agreement after the initial migration. BMC recommends that you perform the following tasks before you begin the migration and after you complete the migration.

Task before you migrate a modified service target or agreement

  1. Ensure that the source database and the destination servers are exactly the same.
  2. Delete existing service targets or agreements from the destination server.

    Warning

If you do not delete the service targets or agreements from the destination server, you could receive a unique index violation error.

Task after you migrate a modified service target or agreement

After you migrate a service target or agreement from the source database to the destination server, rebuild the service target and agreement.

Note

If you need to migrate the service target or agreement again, note the following:

  • Do not change the name of the service target or agreement that has already been migrated to the destination server.
  • Do not delete any existing milestones or action items for service targets or agreements on the destination server.

Where to go from here

Next task

If you have upgraded BMC Remedy ITSM Process Designer, then you must run the Update Permissions utility to rectify the migrated data as a post delta data migration activity. For instructions, see Performing the BMC Remedy ITSM Process Designer upgrade.

Otherwise, go to Updating the destination server names after data migration.

Up to process

To return to the delta data migration process, go to Migrating delta data.
