Configuring environment variables for armonitor

After you install Remedy AR System, review the following environment variables that you might want to set in the server. After setting any of these variables, restart armonitor. For more information about armonitor, see armonitor in the Remedy AR System documentation.

Variable

Description

V_WAIT_BEFORE_STARTUP

Time period, in seconds, to wait before starting the AR System server.

V_WAIT_BEFORE_POLLING

Time period, in seconds, that armonitor waits for the AR System server to start (the default is 900).

V_SERVER_NAME

AR System server name. This value is overridden by the -s <serverName> parameter in the command line or by Server-Name in the ar.cfg (ar.conf) file.

V_LOGFILE_NAME

Log file name for armonitor output. This is different from the data logged in armonitor.log. The armonitor process normally writes output to the screen when started manually. Setting this variable enables armonitor to write the information to a log file.

In UNIX environments, you can set them in the armonitor script or user shell environment. In Windows environments, set the system variables.  Alternatively, if the AR System server runs as a specific user, you can set the individual user variable for that account.
