You can obtain the PTF files from the Patches tab of the BMC AMI Enterprise Connector component in the BMC Electronic Product Download (EPD) website. Your ability to access product pages on the EPD website is determined by the license entitlements purchased by your company.

Each PTF is delivered in XMIT format.

To apply a PTF

If you have BMC AMI Enterprise Connector version 2.1, apply only PTFs RSS2074, RSS2075, and RSS2076.

  1. Download a PTF from the FTP to the mainframe into a predefined data set with the following DCB values:
    • Record format: FB
    • Record length: 80
    • Block size: 3120
    • First extent cylinders: 5
    • Secondary cylinders: 1
  2. Use TSO RECEIVE to install it into the PTF SMP/E input library.
  3. Run the APPLYPTF REXX exec in the hlq.INSTALL data set.

    The REXX exec builds the $PTF JCL job in the hlq.INSTALL data set, which you can then submit. The job runs SMP/E statements to RECEIVE and APPLY the PTF.

    Tip

    If you don’t want to run the APPLYPTF REXX exec, you can run the following JCL:

    //[jobcard]
    //***********************************************************
    //* RSM PTF Installation                                    *
    //***********************************************************
    //***********************************************************
    //* Install PTF                                             *
    //***********************************************************
    //INSTALL  EXEC PGM=GIMSMP,REGION=6M,COND=(4,LT),PARM='PROCESS=WAIT'
    //SMPCSI DD DISP=SHR,DSN=[smp/e global csi name]

    //SMPHOLD  DD   DUMMY

     SET BOUNDARY(GLOBAL).
     RECEIVE SYSMODS.
     SET BOUNDARY(RSMTZN).
     APPLY PTFS GROUPEXTEND
     BYPASS(HOLDSYSTEM(ACTION,DOC,AO,DEP)).
    //*

    Replace <ptfNumber> with the PTF number that you are applying, for example, RSS2074.
