Installing a service pack or patch on a Standalone Manager

This topic describes how to install a service pack or patch on a BMC Database Automation (BDA) environment with a single Manager.

Before you begin

Some service packs or patches do not contain all of the files that are required for a complete product release, so you might have to first install BDA 8.9.00. Verify your specific requirements by reviewing the documentation for the service pack or patch you are applying to your environment.

To install a service pack or patch on a Standalone Manager

  1. Navigate to the directory in which you downloaded the service pack or patch and use the tar command to extract the media:
    tar xvzf <media>.
  2. Verify that the following dependent services are running using the service command:
    <service name> status
    • postgresql
    • dmanager
    • mtd
    • httpd
  3. Run the following script as root:

    ./update.sh

    Note

If the output from this script includes an Invalid response from nextentityid check message, you can safely ignore this message.

This script upgrades the existing Manager RPMs and completes the Manager upgrade.

Where to go next

If necessary, update your agents with the latest software.
