Support for sha256 algorithm

Starting with this version, BMC Database Automation supports sha256 algorithm for enhanced security. For more information, see Enabling SSL support.
GUI-related enhancements
Fixed width columns in reportsIn report tables, the column width is now fixed and better aligned with data. If data exceeds the column width, use the tool tip to see the complete data.
Platform support
Support for SAP Replication Server 16.0 on additional platformsStarting with this version, BMC Database Automation supports Replication Server 16.0 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 and RHEL 7 platforms.
Database Support
Support for Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Core EditionStarting with this version, BMC Database Automation supports SQL Server 2016 Enterprise Core Edition.
Miscellaneous enhancements
Defining custom fields for scheduling optionsStarting with this release, you can define custom fields for the scheduling options present on the Scheduling page while running a job or action. The values of those options are derived from the values of corresponding custom fields specified on the Custom Fields page. For more information about defining custom fields, see To add custom fields for the scheduling options to a template.
Applying inline patches before/after CRS configurationNow you can choose whether you want to apply a patch before or after configuring CRS during inline patching of an Oracle grid infrastructure. For more information, see the Apply Patch Before Configuring CRS option on Creating an Oracle cluster.

Deprecated
cmdutils

Starting with version 8.9.03, the command line utility, cmdutils is deprecated on Windows. The utility is still supported on Linux.

BMC Database Automation web services updates

UpdateDescription
Ability to override Action templatesWith this release, you can override values in a supplied Action template through custom fields. For more information, see Run Action.
REST API Commands for patching functions

Starting with version 8.9.03, you can use the REST API commands to perform the following functions with BDA patches:

  • List patches available for a database
  • Install patches
  • Rollback patches
  • List candidates for a patch
  • List templates for a patch
  • Pre-stage patches
