Upgrading a Standalone Manager

This topic describes how to upgrade the Manager software on a BMC Database Automation (BDA) environment with a single Manager.

Before you begin

You must have previously performed the steps in Preparing for upgrade.

 To upgrade a Standalone Manager

  1. Navigate to the directory in which you downloaded the service pack or patch and use the tar command to extract the media:
    tar xvzf <media>.
  2. Verify that the following dependent services are running using the service command:
    <service name> status
    • postgresql
    • dmanager

    • mtd

    • httpd

  3. Export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/app/clarity/lib.

  4. Run the following commands:
    service mtd stop

    service dmanager stop

    rm /app/clarity/lib/libgcc_s.so.1
  5. Run the following script as root:
    ./update.sh

This script upgrades the existing Manager RPMs and completes the Manager upgrade.
The new version of BDA is displayed in the BDA Version section of the Configuration > System Information page in the GUI.
