Configuring the data warehouse database connection
To support the reporting functions provided by BMC Database Automation, or to use BMC Decision Support – Database Automation to create reports for your environment, you must configure a connection to the data warehouse database where the data to create the reports is stored. This topic describes how to configure the data warehouse database connection.
For Multi-Manager configurations, the connection is configured only from Satellite Managers.
To configure the data warehouse database connection
- In the Context Frame, select Configuration > Configuration.
In the Configuration page, provision the following fields.
Define the location of the external monitoring target.
Example of a valid connect string:
(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP) (HOST=10.100.5.181) (PORT=1521))) (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=ORA10G)))
Enter the user name for the BMC Database Automation Data Warehouse user database account (DWDB_USER from To create a new data warehouse database schema).
Enter the password for the BMC Database Automation Data Warehouse user database account (DBDW_PASSWORD from To create a new data warehouse database schema).
- To ensure that the settings are accurate before you save them, click Test Connection to test the connection to the data warehouse database.
- If the test is successful, go on to the next step.
If the test is unsuccessful, verify that the Connection String value and user credentials are correct.
- Click Save Settings.
