FMIDs
The FMIDs for each CICS release are listed as follows:
- RMXD170 - CICS TS 5.2 modules
- SMXD170 - CICS TS 5.3 modules
- TMXD170 - CICS TS 5.4 modules
- UMXD170 - CICS TS 5.5 modules
- VMXD170 - CICS TS 5.6 modules
- WMXD170 - CICS TS 6.1 modules
- XMXD170 - CICS TS 6.2 modules
If you install two or more CICS-dependent FMIDs for the same release of Code Debug CICS, there will be an instance of SMXDAUTH, SMXDAAFX1, SMXDPDSE, and SMXDSAMP for each FMID. Assuming the same level of maintenance on each FMID, all instances of these data sets are identical. The following example uses SMXDAUTH, but the concept applies equally to SMXDAAFX, SMXDPDSE, and SMXDSAMP.
Consider this example: You presently use the UMXD170 FMID and are installing the VMXD170 FMID for a newer CICS release. Your Code Debug Service Provider has CPWR.UMXD170.SMXDAUTH as the STEPLIB. There is no technical requirement to immediately change the STEPLIB to specify CPWR.VMXD170.SMXDAUTH as the STEPLIB.
There may be an operational reason to transition to use of the VMXD170 instance of SMXDAUTH, at some convenient time. Once all CICS regions have been upgraded to the newer CICS release, you may want to archive or delete the UMXD170 data sets. Obviously, that archive or delete cannot be completed if the UMXD170 instance of SMXDAUTH is still in use.
Complete the following task to SMP/E-install Code Debug CICS.
Task 2.1 Follow the BMC Installation Guide
- Once completed, follow the steps in this guide to configure and deploy Code Debug CICS.
1. SMXDAAFX has been deprecated and, beginning with FMID UMXD170, is no longer created.
