Importing and Exporting Test Scenarios

Test scenarios can be saved in the Total Test repository as well as plain files in the Eclipse workspace. It can be necessary to have test scenarios in both places. A test scenario can be developed in Eclipse and uploaded to the repository to be exposed through the Rest API or the scheduling mechanism. And test scenarios can be imported from the Non-virtualized Test repository into the Eclipse workspace to be edited or migrated and then uploaded again.

Test scenarios can be uploaded by right-clicking on the .context file (that represents the environment in which it should run), or from the Execution dialog box the option Upload result can be checked which will upload the result as well as the test scenario. First time a test scenario is uploaded, the created ID of the test scenario will be saved in the .context file so the same ID will be used when uploading it again.

To import a test scenario into the Eclipse workspace, do the following:

  1. Show the Repository view and select the Test Scenarios tab.

  2. Use filters to locate the test scenario to be imported and then right-click on it and choose Import Test scenario.
  3. Choose the location of the imported test scenario. The test scenario, the .context file, optionally the .validation file, and any external resources that were also part of the test scenario when it was being uploaded will be imported.
