SLM SELECT

This command allows the operator to modify which jobs on the ambient member are eligible to be selected for execution by SLM. In addition, for General Services jobs, it allows the operator to modify the point at which they are eligible to be selected for execution by SLM.

To get a display of the current SELECT settings for a member, use the SLM SELECT command without any operands.

QUICKONLY

Indicates that only Quick Jobs may be selected for both General Services and Production Control Services, including PCS Groups.

NOTES(text)

Allows recording of information associated with the change being made. The note is shown in subsequent SLM displays. This keyword is accepted only when restricting job selection, therefore it cannot be used with the ALL, GENERAL, or PCS keywords.

  • text - A character string of additional information. If blanks or special characters are used, the text must be enclosed in apostrophes. The string length is limited only by the maximum operator command length.

PRODUCTION

Indicates that Production Control Services jobs are eligible to be selected for execution by SLM, subject to constraints in the active Policy.

PPRODUCTION QUICKONLY

GENERAL QUICKONLY

Indicates that only Quick Jobs may be selected for General Services. Selection of Production Control Services jobs is not affected.

ACCEPTABLE

Indicates that General Services jobs are eligible to be selected for execution by SLM only after they have aged to at least the acceptable threshold. Jobs may be further constrained in the active Policy.

CRITICAL

NOGENERAL

Indicates that General Services jobs are not eligible to be selected for execution by SLM.

MINCAPLVL(n)

Set the Minimum ACM Capacity Level.  Indicates that the ACM Capacity Level is to be set to a value that is at least constraining as the supplied value (1-5).

MINCAPLVL(none)

Reset the Minimum ACM Capacity Level.  Indicates that there is to be no minimum ACM Capacity Level.

Example
/SLM SELECT GENERAL CRITICAL NOTES('Until LPAR restored')

This command suspends selection of all General Services jobs except those that have reached the critical threshold. The NOTES keyword is used to indicate when the suspension can be lifted.

To determine the current operator-set constraints on SLM job selection, use the SLM SELECT command without operands. The result for the above example is:

/SLM SELECT
OPERATOR CONSTRAINTS: GENERAL CRITICAL
NOTES: UNTIL LPAR RESTORED

To remove any restrictions previously imposed on SLM job selection:

/SLM SELECT ALL
