Version | 18.02.00 |

A serious problem in the listed product requires immediate attention.
Issue
For installations running ThruPut Manager 18.02 TMT7123 or earlier, a catastrophic abend might occur in JES2 and JES2 does not restart. The initial symptom is a JES2 catastrophic abend (S0C4) in DTMJ2MV7 module, however JES2 recovers. The abend might occur on multiple members of the JES2 MAS. The JES2 $HASP088 message displays the failing module as DTMJ2MV7 with the FAILING INSTR x'91131000'.
While JES2 recovers, subsequent catastrophic abends $DCB, $Q06, or other S0C4s within JES2 might occur and JES2 terminates and fails to restart.
A sample $HASP088 message from the initial abend follows:
$HASP088 ------------------------------------------------------
$HASP088 FMID = HJE77C0 LOAD MODULE = HASJES20
$HASP088 SUBSYS = JES2 z/OS 2.4
$HASP088 DATE = 2021.348 TIME = 8.00.30
$HASP088 DESC = Protection exception
$HASP088 MODULE MODULE OFFSET SERVICE ROUTINE EXIT
$HASP088 NAME BASE + OF CALL LEVEL CALLED ##
$HASP088 -------- -------- ------- ------- ---------- ----
$HASP088 *DTMJ2MV7 35D2C000 + 010726 NONE *ABEND S0C4
$HASP088 HASPMISC 354612C0 + 0032F2 OA58190 $CATJCNT
$HASP088 FAILING INSTR WAS 91131000
Resolution
PTF TMT7124 resolves the issue.
The fix can be dynamically applied by following the instructions in the APARs mentioned here:
PTF | Applies To | Fixed in PTF |
|---|---|---|
TR71506 | TMT7120, TMT7121, TMT7122, and TMT7123 | TMT7124 |
TR71507 | TMT7119 | TMT7124 |
TR71508 | TMT7115, TMT7116, TMT7117, and TMT7118 | TMT7124 |
Apply the identified APAR for the appropriate TM level and follow the installation directions included in the APAR. If JES2 has terminated, then only a JES2 restart is required after the LLA Refresh or Update.
To obtain PTFs, use one of the following methods:
