Performing direct actions on a device


Some key features are available from the web console for easy access. The Actions button provide access to the following functions:

Warning

You cannot perform direct actions on a master so you cannot see the Actions button if you are accessing a master.

To ping a device

To ping a remote device to verify the connection:

  • Click Actions > Ping.

A ping is directly sent to the remote device and the result of the connection verification displays in a window.

To reboot a device

To reboot a device:

  1. Click Actions > Reboot.
    A confirmation window displays.
  2. Click Yes to proceed with the reboot.

The remote device is rebooted.

To restart the agent

To restart the agent service of the selected device:

  1. Click Actions > Restart the agent.
    A confirmation window displays.
  2. Click Yes to proceed.

The restart order is sent and the agent service is restarted.

To shut down a device

To completely shut down the selected remote device:

  1. Click Actions > Shut down.
    A confirmation window displays.
  2. Click Yes to proceed with the shutdown, but be aware that if there is a user working on the remote device, the user has no way of stopping the shutdown and might loose data in this case.

The shutdown order is sent and the remote device is shut down.

To wake up a device

To wake up the selected remote device:

  1. Click Actions > wake up.
    A confirmation window displays.
  2. Click Yes to proceed with the wake up.

The wake up order is sent immediately to the remote device and executed.
