Scanned Devices

What can I do in this node?

In this node you can:

  • Select a single device and scan it for patches
  • Schedule scanning to scan the targets regularly at certain times
  • View devices that have already been scanned
  • View a bar chart or pie chart visualizing the scan status

Where do I find the Scanned Devices node?

To view Scanned Devices node, go to Patch Management > Patch Detection > Scanned Devices.

This node displays a list of scanned devices with details such as its name, primary user name, inherited from group, network name, scan status, last status update time, and so on. See the following screenshot for details.

You can filter the list by selecting the appropriate option from the View drop-down. You can chose from the following options:

  • All assignments
  • Scan deferred
  • Scan not activated
  • Scan completed
  • Scan requested
  • Scan in progress
  • Scan cancelling
  • Scan out of date
  • Sending impossible
  • Not applicable
  • Scan failed

Apart from viewing scanned devices, bar and pie charts, you can also perform the following operations by right-clicking any scanned device from the list.

Assign/Unassign DeviceActivates the assign/unassign order of the selected device.
Scan DeviceAssigns a scan schedule to the selected device.
Activate Device ScanActivates the scan of the selected device.
Reactive ScanReactivates the scan of the selected device.
Go ToOpens the device under the Search node with details such as general information, members information, graph, and security details.
Properties

Launches the Scheduler window which enables you to modify the schedule of the scan. To define a new schedule run, do the following:

  1. Define when a scan is to be executed by selecting the desired option from the When do you want this rule to be run on devices? drop-down. Possible options are:
      • Right now: Select this option to start the scan immediately.
      • At Startup: Starts the execution immediately.
      • At Session Startup: Starts the execution every time BCM agent is started.
      • At Session Close: Starts the execution every time a session is started.
      • Run Repeatedly on a Schedule: Runs the execution repeatedly on a schedule.
      • Use CronSpec to Schedule: Creates the execution schedule by using CronSpec.
  2. Select when a rule needs to be configured to run in a window by selecting the desired option from the Do you want to configure a window in which this rule can run? drop-down. Possible options are:
      • Prevent this rule from running on a schedule: Disables a schedule
      • Start the schedule immediately: Starts the schedule immediately.
      • Start the schedule at next startup: Activates the schedule only after the next startup of the device.
      • Start the schedule window on: Starts the schedule at a specific time and date:
  3. Specify the end date to end the schedule.
      • From the End after drop-down, select the number of executions after which the schedule should end.
      • From the End on field, selection the date and time for the schedule to end.
  4. Click OK.

In this node you can view summaries on the following details regarding the patches that are missing on the scanned device, either in the form of an inventory table or in the form of a bar or pie chart:

  • Bullet Name
  • Severity
  • Language
  • Affected Product

  • Installed Service Pack
  • Retry Attempts
  • Patch Return Code
  • Size
  • Patch Release Date
  • Reason

Missing Service Packs

In this node you can view summaries on the following details regarding the service packs that are missing on the scanned device, either in the form of an inventory table or in the form of a bar or pie chart:

  • Affected Product
  • Service Pack Name
  • Language
  • Product Family
  • Installed Service Pack
  • Size
  • Reason

Installed Patches

In this node you can view summaries on the following details regarding the patches that are installed on the scanned device, either in the form of an inventory table or in the form of a bar or pie chart:

  • Patch Name
  • Bulletin Name
  • Severity
  • Language
  • Affected Product
  • Product Family
  • Size
  • Patch Release Date
  • Reason
  • Installation Date
  • Installation Method
  • Retry Attempts

Installed Service Packs

In this node you can view summaries on the following details regarding the service packs that are installed on the scanned device, either in the form of an inventory table or in the form of a bar or pie chart:

  • Affected Product
  • Service Pack Name
