Prerequisites
Before executing Patch Management ensure that you meet the following requirements:
Device Downloading Patches (Patch Manager)
The device executing all actions of Patch Management needs to have:
- at least 2GB disk space to store patches
- one of the following operating systems:
- Windows 7 32 and 64 bit
- Windows 8 32 and 64 bit
- Windows 8.1 32 and 64 bit
- Windows 10
- Windows Server 2008 32 and 64-bit
- Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit
- Windows Server 2012 64-bit
Windows Server 2012 R2 64-bit
Windows Server 2016 64-bit
Note
You cannot use the patch manager with only an IPv6 address.
Also, ensure that the root certificate of the device is up to date. Should this not be the case you must apply the update bulletins MSRC-001 or MSRC-002 to the Patch Manager before downloading any Knowledge Base updates.
Devices to be patched
The devices to be patched must have:
- one of the following operating systems:
- Windows 7 32 and 64 bit
- Windows 8 32 and 64 bit
- Windows 8.1 32 and 64 bit
- Windows 10
- Windows Server 2008 32 and 64-bit
- Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit
- Windows Server 2012 64-bit
- Windows Server 2012 R2 64-bit
- Windows Server 2016 64-bit
- MSXML 6.0 SP2 or later installed
License
Ensure that you have a valid Patch Management license to patch devices.
To be able to keep your Patch Knowledge Base up to date you must also have a valid Patch Knowledge Base Update license.
