Defining the PXE menu parameters
This step allows you to add the new project to a PXE start menu to make it available whenever this menu is used on the subnet.
Note:
If you defined a target list for this project it is ignored if you add it to a PXE menu. In this case ONLY the subnet mask defined for the menu will be applied.
- Select OS Deployment > Your device > PXE Menus.
Click the Edit > Create Menu.
The Create a New PXE Boot Menu dialog is displayed on the screen. Enter the values in the respective fields as explained in the following table:Parameter Description Menu Name Enter a descriptive name for the new menu. Scope Enter the IP address range of the targets which are to use this menu into the Scope field, e.g., 94.24.127.*. Display Time () Enter the amount of time that the menu is displayed on the target screen in seconds before automatically starting with the default selection, if the default 30 seconds do not fit your requirements Enabled Select if the PXE boot menu is to be enabled directly. Notes Free text field that may be edited to display general information about the object and its contents. - Click the OK button to confirm.
- Select the new menu in the left hierarchy tree and go to its Items tab.
- Click the Add a New Menu Item button above the table.
The Select Projects to Add window is displayed. - Select the projects to be added to the sequence and click the Add button.
- Double-click the new menu you have just created.
The PXE Menu Item Data window is displayed. - (optional) Enter an description that is displayed when when the project title is selected in the PXE menu, for example, Windows 2008 - Dell GX280.
- Click OK.
- To make the project the default project, right-click it and select Make Default.
To now see the menu working, start a device within the defined scope with PXE activated. The PXE menu is displayed on the device's screen with the test project being highlighted. If you do not change the selection, the default project is executed once the timeout is exceeded.
