Defining the PXE menu parameters

This step allows you to add the new project to a PXE start menu to make it available whenever this menu is used on the subnet.

Note:

If you defined a target list for this project it is ignored if you add it to a PXE menu. In this case ONLY the subnet mask defined for the menu will be applied.

  1. Select OS Deployment > Your device > PXE Menus.
  2. Click the Edit > Create Menu.
The Create a New PXE Boot Menu dialog is displayed on the screen. Enter the values in the respective fields as explained in the following table:

Menu NameEnter a descriptive name for the new menu.
ScopeEnter the IP address range of the targets which are to use this menu into the Scope field, e.g., 94.24.127.*.
Display Time ()Enter the amount of time that the menu is displayed on the target screen in seconds before automatically starting with the default selection, if the default 30 seconds do not fit your requirements
EnabledSelect if the PXE boot menu is to be enabled directly.
NotesFree text field that may be edited to display general information about the object and its contents.
  3. Click the OK button to confirm.
  4. Select the new menu in the left hierarchy tree and go to its Items tab.

The Select Projects to Add window is displayed.

The PXE Menu Item Data window is displayed.

  9. Click OK.
  10. To make the project the default project, right-click it and select Make Default.

To now see the menu working, start a device within the defined scope with PXE activated. The PXE menu is displayed on the device's screen with the test project being highlighted. If you do not change the selection, the default project is executed once the timeout is exceeded.
