CH – Change Types


A change type is an attribute of a set that describes what sort of change the set is being used for.

The following figure shows Change Types examples. It is the first screen displayed after entering option CH.

General Notes

It is useful to group sets by change type, so other settings can be based on it.

Example 1

Set priorities can be tuned so that an emergency change will be executed before a standard change.

Example 2

Approval rules can be tuned so that emergency changes don’t need approval, but standard changes do (option AP).

The use of a certain Change Type can be secured to prevent misuse. See Security.

The following table describes each field for a change type definition:

Field Name

Description

Change Type

The change type of the set. Three change types are provided by default, but any other user-defined change types can be added.

Valid values:

  • S – Standard
  • E – Emergency
  • I – Incidental
  • Any user-defined change type.

Set Priority

Relative priority taken into account by the set scheduler during set initialization. The highest number has highest priority.

Valid values: A number from 1-9.

Description

A description of the type of change.
