ISV software
Microsoft SQL Server (required for Metadata Analyzer only; other editions may be acceptable but have not been tested):
- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition (Service Pack 1 or higher)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition (Service Pack 1 or higher)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition
- Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition
- Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Standard Edition
- Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Standard Edition
- Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Standard Edition
A link to Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express and to the additional software required to install it is provided on the DevEnterprise installation browser.
The Metadata Server initialization process will create a database for you if one does not exist. You have the option to create your own database to be used by the Metadata Server.
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express databases are limited to 4 GB of data. This should be sufficient for at least 2 million entities, including programs, data items, jobs, and data sets, which should allow you to use the Metadata Analyzer for many applications. If you require more space for your applications, you will need to either set up multiple repositories, or use a Microsoft SQL Server repository, which has a 1,048,516 TB limitation. For more information on Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express, go to www.Microsoft.com.
See Microsoft for hardware requirements for the various supported SQL Server editions.
For optimal performance, see to the Metadata Analyzer online help regarding SQL Server configuration.
DASD space requirements
The mainframe install image is now a part of Enterprise Common Components. See to the BMC AMI Enterprise Common Components Installation and Configuration Guide for DASD space requirements.
