Logging in and viewing the Overview in the BMC AMI Ops UI

When you log in to the BMC AMI Ops User Interface ( BMC AMI Ops User Interface ) with your mainframe credentials and select a service, you can see the Overview page. A BMC AMI Ops service (also known as the BMC AMI Ops Host Server ) is part of the  BMC AMI Ops Infrastructure used to access  BMC AMI Ops monitored environments.

The BMC AMI Ops User Interface Overview page provides a look at the overall health of the BMC AMI Ops products in the service.

This topic presents the following information and tasks:

Before you begin

The  BMC AMI Ops User Interface server must be running to launch the  BMC AMI Ops User Interface  client. For information about the server installation, see Installing and Customizing the BMC AMI Ops user interface.

To log in to the BMC AMI Ops User Interface

  1. Open any browser and go to the following URL: https://host:port/amiops/login.
    • For host, use the IP address or name of the system on which the BMC AMI Ops User Interface server is running.
    • For port, use the networking port number.

  2. Enter the following information to log in to a service running BMC AMI Ops products for which you are authorized to access:
    • User name
    • Password or passphrase
    • Host name or IP address of a service
    • Port number of the service
  3. Click Log In.

 The Overview dashboard of the service is displayed.

To switch the logged-in service

  1. From the navigation bar, click the host name and port number of the current service.
  2. Enter the host name or IP address and enter the port number of a service to which you have access.
  3. Click Switch.

The page refreshes with content from the selected service.

Understanding the Overview dashboard

The Overview dashboard provides the status of the BMC AMI Ops products in the service. The products are grouped by technology, which is defined in the product.

Each technology widget displays the number of targets that were discovered and grouped by the technology and the following information:

  • Number of targets with active alarms
  • Number of targets that are active (Up), inactive (Down), and unavailable (N/A)
  • Number of targets with alarms at critical and warning severities

The color of the widget reflects the most severe current alarm.

The following image displays a sample technology widget:

If one or more targets are inactive, click Down to see the following information about the targets:

  • Sysplex
  • Status
  • Target
  • Technology
  • LPAR

Click the hyperlink number to see information about the alarms, filtered for the specific targets and alarm severity:

  • Click a hyperlink next to Critical to see the Alarms page  filtered by Critical and Major alarms.
  • Click a hyperlink next to Warning to see the Alarms page filtered by Minor and Warning alarms.

Use the breadcrumbs at the top of the page to return to the dashboard from an alarm view:

To filter the targets in the dashboard

You can filter the targets in the dashboard by the following criteria:

  • Current severity
  • Technology
  • LPAR
