| Event | Sustained anomalous behavior |
| Exception | A measurement outside of normal functioning parameters that requires immediate action |
Ingestion | Reading data It can happen in real-time or playback mode using historical records |
KPI | Key Performance Indicator Measurable statistic that indicates how the system is functioning |
| KPI Group | A collection of connected KPIs |
| Limit Breach | KPI measured outside a preset absolute limit |
| Model | Measurements for KPI Groups that are generated based on normal parameters for your system |
Multivariate | Using multiple KPI inputs that may provide multiple outputs |
| Playback | Running the product on historical data |
Project / Projection | Using a linear regression technique to extrapolate a line to a point in the future to ascertain whether a degrading situation is unfolding |
Scoring | Compiling data and calculating a score to compare to a model |
Scoring engine | Engine that compiles the data and calculates a score |
| Sensitivity | Degree of deviation from normal that is allowed without generating an event |
Training | Building a mathematical model based on historical data |
WLM | Workload Manager |
