Export the Data Editor Data Display View


All of the contents in the current page of the Data Editor data display view can be exported to a local file in your choice of four different formats:

  • Delimited text file (*.csv)
  • Spreadsheet (*.xls)
  • Web document (*.html)
  • XML document (*.xml). 
Warning

Important

  • Export is not recommended in Unformatted mode.
  • With the exception of XML export, you can only export one segment when working with either IMS data or an XREF with MVS data. 

To export the current page to a local file

  1. Click the data display view's toolbar Export iconimage2021-8-18_13-13-50.png. The Export File-AID Data dialog box appears.
    The Ctr+Alt+E keyboard shortcut can also be used.
  2. Select an export format from the Format list.
  3. Specify the folder and file name to save your data to.
  4. Choose a Heading from the dropdown list. Options are All details (default), Name only, and None.

    Warning

    Important

    Heading option is available only for .html, .xls and .csv formats.

  5. If Delimited text file is selected in step 2:
    1. Choose a Field delimiter from the dropdown list. Options are Tab, Semicolon, Comma, Pipe, and Space.
    2. Choose a Text qualifier from the dropdown list. Options are None (default) and Double quote.
  6. Click OK. You now have a local file that can be viewed with the appropriate application.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
