Browse, edit, delete, and properties for z/OS UNIX files
The Host Explorer can be used to invoke some basic viewing of z/OS UNIX files.
To add a filter for z/OS UNIX Files
Host Explorer filters are used to define a set of resources to view in the Host Explorer view.
- In the Host Explorer view, right-click z/OS UNIX Files and select Add Filter. The Filter dialog box appears.
- Enter the filter, which can include any of the following:
- The tilde character (~) to designate the home director The filter created using the tilde character (~) will be automatically converted to the full path of the home directory.
- A path to a directory or fil Paths usually begin with a forward slash /, for example, /u.
- A path with an asterisk character (*) as the last character to match wildcard files or directories
Click OK to add the filter. The filtered results display all of the resources on the system that match the filter.
To browse z/OS UNIX files in Host Explorer
- Establish a connection to a mainframe system.
- In the Host Explorer view, right-click the file and select Browse to view the file in browse-only mode.
To edit z/OS UNIX files in Host Explorer
- Establish a connection to a mainframe system.
- In the Host Explorer view, right-click the file and select Edit to view the file in edit mode.
- To browse or edit UNIX files containing non-displayable dat
- To use a COBOL or PL/I layout to format the data
- If the file has fixed length records instead of new-line delimiter
- If the file is ASCII encoded and not EBCDIC encode
To delete a z/OS UNIX file or folder
- In the Host Explorer view, right-click the file or folder and select Delete. The Delete dialog box appears showing a list of the files or folders selected for deletion and their types.
- Click Delete. The results of the delete request appears in the Results column of the Delete dialog box. The involved resources are updated in Host Explorer.
- Click Done to exit the dialog box.
To view folder or file properties
Right-click the folder or file in the Host Explorer view and select Properties. The Properties tab appears showing the properties that apply to the folder or file and their values.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
