Monthly Summary Reports

This section explains the different functions of the MLC Monthly Summary Report and the TFP Monthly Summary Report.

The MLC and TFP Monthly Summary Reports display rows that list each MLC product or TFP solution, and columns that display monthly cost data. Use the hyperlinks provided on the report to drill down on specific data to see more detail, and access interactive charts.

MLC Monthly Summary Report

The top of each report identifies:

  • Usage Month—The month the MSU utilization occurred
  • Billing Month—The month that IBM invoices for payment
  • Monthly MLC Total or CMP Total—The total MLC, or CMP charges for the month

By clicking More, you can access additional information that includes:

  • Whether sysplex, CMP, or MVM pricing are in effect
  • The cost table used when generating the report
  • Additional cost factors that apply to the report
  • A list of commands for zNALC, Exclude LPARs, NO89, and EXCLUDE89
  • The Combined Cost reduction value (if applicable)

By clicking Export to CSV and the Save to PDF, you can save the report data on your local computer as either a CSV file or as a PDF file.

The following figure shows a sample MLC Monthly Summary Report:

The following table describes the data that each column of the report contains:

Column header

Description

Product

MLC product that qualifies for sub-capacity pricing

The product ID is indicated in parentheses under the MLC product name.

CPC Name

(PricingPlex Name)

Name of the CPCs on which this MLC product was active during some intervals of the reporting period

The PricingPlex name (if one exists), is indicated in parentheses under the CPC name.

R4HA MSU Utilization

Preview chart of the aggregated R4HA MSU Utilization of the LPARs running the product

The red dot on the chart represents the high or peak value.

R4HA First Peak Cost

Monthly license cost determined by the First Peak R4HA value

% of Total Cost

Percentage of the total monthly cost contributed by the product

Expanding the product will show the the percentage of cost contributed by each CPC.

Note

In an MLC Product Name row, the percentage indicates this product's contribution to the Total Monthly cost.

In a CPC row, the percentage indicates this CPC's contribution to the total Monthly Cost.

Average Cost/MSU

Total product cost on a particular CPC divided by the R4HA First Peak value

Incremental Cost/MSU

Cost of one additional MSU for this product on this CPC

Note

Cost tables are not linear, so the cost of an additional MSU depends on the current First Peak R4HA value.

R4HA First peak (MSU)

R4HA value in MSUs at the first peak

To the right of the R4HA value, the number in brackets indicates the number of occurrences of the same value during the reporting period.

Combined MSU Reduction

Total number of combined MSUs for the MLC product family

The value represents the total combined MSU reduction that resulted from either Mobile transactions or zCAP activity.

Note

The MLC Monthly Summary Report only contains Combined MSU reduction values if the month's cost model has been built using mobile transaction data or zCAP activity. The product administrator is responsible for ensuring that your Model Builder Tasks have MWP and zCAP support, and for maintaining accuracy in the cost models by importing the mobile transaction data after the completion of each month. For more information, see Adding-Workload-Reduction-CSV-files-to-Model-Builder-Tasks.

R4HA First Peak

Date and time the first peak occurred

R4HA Second Peak (MSU)

R4HA value in MSUs at the second peak

To the right of the R4HA value, the number in brackets indicates the number of occurrences of the same value during the reporting period.

Note

The R4HA Second Peak value and Date/Time value do not affect MLC but do provide useful information. For example, if the first peak has only one occurrence and the second peak is significantly smaller than the first peak, either an abnormal situation occurred or you have an opportunity to decrease the cost.

R4HA Second Peak

Date and time the second peak occurred

Note

The MLC Monthly Summary report might contain data for Country Multiplex Pricing (CMP), Multi-Version Measurement Pricing (MVM), Mobile Workload Pricing (MWP), or zSystems Collocated Application Pricing (zCAP). For more information, see:

In the CPC column, a callout sticky note.PNGindicates that an adjustment has been made to the cost calculation for the data in that row. Click on the callout to display the adjustment message window.

In some columns, the data also serves as a hyperlink that lets you drill down to details about specific CPCs and MLC products.
